Today I installed AROS One x86 on a 60GB SSD.
I'm pleasantly surprised that all my external drives including USB CD/DVD, USB Teac Floppy Drive, USB Multi Card Reader, USB Zip250 Drive simply work. All media mounted correctly using Trident. How do I force a disk to dismount in Trident?
You can remove Trident from Trident Prefs, but it is complicated, you can instead disassemble it with the "AddUSBHardware" command,
you have to run it twice though (I am preparing a script for AROS One).
Using "AddUSBHardware" after unmounting on real PC the icon remains on the Workbench, while on VMWare the icon is also removed .
The "AddUSBHardware" command is also used to mount a USB volume, but in the AROS version there is no precise information on how to do this.
On Aminet there are scripts that work partially because they are native OS3.
For other Devices (CD/DVD/Floppy) you can use the "Eject" command, to do this you find ready icons in the Utilities folder the files/icons are called "Eject-CD-DVD" and "Eject-Floppy"
To unmount volumes you can also use the Assign command, example "Assign Dismount CD0:"
I attached my USB Blu-Ray drive & I inserted Icaros 2.2 Live CD. It mounted correctly. But when I removed the DVD the Icon remained on the Wanderer workbench. All other icons unmounted automatically when the disk was removed
Is the icon that is left on Wanderer an icon that stays even after a reboot?
For AROS One x86 how do I know which version I have? Info only shows the version information about AROS ABIv0.
There is no way to detect the version of AROS One, from the next version it will be added on the GRUB graphics and AROS Logo
The AROS One x86 Native that I just installed on my mini PC will be great for testing x86 applications. I like the look & feel of AROS One x86. My version will require some custom tools & icons, themes, etc.
With the new AfA OS Style icons it will look much better, already many people prefer them, when they have them on the Wandere they will appreciate them even more. suggli screenshots
