Just has a crash on the eee PC when trying to launch SysExplorer (please see image). On the samsung it doesn't give a crash log but after the system 'tree' has been displayed the program locks up and cannot be closed and the whole system slows down.

Cheers,
Nigel.

We have already discussed it on this forum, the error happens on a few PCs, on my Real PCs, Acer and Dell SysExplor works perfectly, see screenshot.

I see you have "lost" icons "Dopus4" on Wanderer, delete them from the .backdrop

Ah, sorry, didn't ealise this was alredy known. Anyway, I can confirm it's a regressions (at least for some systems) as this was working on my Samsung with my 2016 install.

I've just had to do a reinstall in the eee PC as somehow the boot partition got corrupted, so I think it's just lost an assign somewhere.

Were you aware that IconEditor will not start as it's missing  couple of dependencies? Both are avaialble on Aminet (AISS and TheBar with a version >=26.17); AISS also needs an assign (TBIMages:) set to the image draw of the package.

Cheers,
Nigel.

assign to TBIMages exists on AROS One (see user-startup), unfortunately I had done some cleanup because the AISS folder was huge and AROS One took so long to install (see AROS One v1.7).

In the "ToolbarImages" I had left only the images used by the various Apps, I missed to test IconEditor, now I will check which images it needs and install the nesessary to make IconEditor work.

Then maybe I can pass you just the nexcessary files without copying the thousands of images in AISS

Copied "only" the necessary images in "ToolbarImages" and IconEditor works perfectly !

Regarding TheBar we had found a bug in the newer versions, that is why on AROS One is installed the older but "stable" version which unfortunately is not compatible with IconEditor.

Bug TheBar v26.22

I understand, there certainly are a lot of images in the full AISS distribution. The one IconEditor stops at for me is 'list_checkmark', but there may be others after this of course. I've already got the full AISS on my work: partition so I just pointed the assign to that.

Cheers,
Nigel.

You need about a hundred images to make IconEditor work, I attach a small archive that includes all the images you need

Quick question - I've started trying out the distro on other computers, ones that did not work with the 2016 version (mainly USB issues), and whilst some are have not changed and some have regressed (did boot at least boot form optical, now don't) others have progressed and work pretty well. Obviously this is due to changes at the core system level, so would you like me to report these experiments here or over on Deadwood's development thread?

Cheers,
Nigel.

You can report HERE any problems you experience on AROS One, then maybe if these are not dependent on AROS One x86, you will report it to Deadwood.

Keep in mind that AROS One is up-to-date with the latest features and so it may happen that "some old" application does not work or needs to be updated.

Unfortunately, AROS is moving forward and you should not look back otherwise you will be stuck and all the efforts of the developers will be in vain.

Also if you make a comparison with the past AROS now is much more stable and functional if the apps areben developed and updated.

By chance I found out that this discussion "AROS One x86 Work In Progress" in 10 months, had more than 10.000 Views, this pushes me to do better and better, although I would have preferred more some participation from visitors 8)

Lookng forwards to installng the new set  ;D

We are well on our way still missing many "White" icons for the Applications section, then I should create 2 installers (White Icons/Blue Icons) for automatic change of "all" icons including subfolders which are many !

Nice. I'd like to see how the installer works.
