Hi,
I changed the dh0 name from aros to Amiga (I just couldn't help myself!) before os installation. However doing this seems to prevent owb from loading. I have tried installing owb again from an aminet download without success. Is a hard path set? Can I change it if there is? Or is it something else?
Thank you

Probably in the OWB prefs saving paths you used the AROS volume name:

I suggest you to never use the real name of the volume when saving but use SYS: in this way even if you change the name of a volume everything will work perfectly.

Now you have two solutions to fix it, the first is to change the save paths to the new volume name "Amiga", the second is to add in the user-startup this command and reboot:

Assign AROS: Amiga:

Thank you AMIGASYSTEM,
No luck with the the Assign AROS: Amiga: in user-starup.
Im not sure about "change the save paths" if this means where I unzip the owb file to, then I've  had no luck either with Amiga or SYS. I also tried unzipping to different folders (including ram) without success.
I haven't found any other programs affected by this which puzzles me. Interesting!

Probably the reasons for the malfunction of OWB are other, I renamed my distribution AMIGA, and as you can see from the screenshot OWB worked perfectly.

If you compress and send me the OS I could fix it :)

Well, I better keep trying a bit harder!

Thank you for your kind offer, very thoughtful :)
I shall have another stab tomorrow, if I'm still without luck (read skill) I'll try your distro and see if that makes any difference.
Thanks again

I just saw this..

"To change a volume name you have to do it from the Shell with the command relabel or from HDToolbox!"

I haven't tried it yet but it seems a lot easier than the only way that I found out how to do it in my experiments!...

I was rebooting, formatting and labeling the volumes after the installation partition creation from the live desktop and then rebooting again to proceed with the install choosing the not to format option :)

I will try the above in the future :)

I also installed aros one with "my" method(!)  and didn't have the owb problem :)

Problem solved and correct methods learned! :)

Thank you for you help AMIGASYSTEM

Attention from the Shell with the Relabel Command you don't have to rename the volume name but the partition name

Example:

Relabel AROS: AMIGA -> Wrong

Relabel DH0: AMIGA -> Correct

If your partition is different from DH0, use the name you gave to the system partition.

Thats awesome, so easy. Thank you!

...just to finish the thread off for completeness (even if it adds to my embarrassment, but its not documented so that's my excuse!), it appears owb not starting was nothing to do with my unconventional method of renaming the volumes/partitions, it was because "start networking during system boot"  wasn't checked in network preferences :/  i would never have guessed that!!

Have fun :)

Attention, The Relabel command renames "only" the Volume, the partition will not be modified so you can proceed with a standard AROS installation.

The name of the DH0 partition "will not affect" future volume names, which you can change as many times as you want simply with Relabel.
