Translators needed

I've created a script which compares the required version (i.e. the version which an application/module etc. tries to open) with the version of the existing CT files. The result is in this table:

The following cases are highlighted:

• n/a i.e. CT misses at all
• version in existing CT file is lower than the required version

It might be a bit difficult to participate if you haven't worked with Git before but alternatively you can send your CT files to our Slack channel.

I have been playing with flexcat and I have several questions.

When the ct file has been generated via flexcat (flexcat keyshow.cd NEWCTFILE=spanish.ct) it has the following header:

Those values <ver>.<rev> are the version and revision of the CT file for the languaje or are the values of the application being localized?
If the latter, how can I get the right values?

The <ver> part must match with version which the application tries to open. You can find the value either in the column "Required Version" in the table which I've linked above, our you can look in the git repository. For keyshow it would be https://github.com/aros-translation-team/keyshow. You can find in the file "catalog_version.h" the right version number.
The <rev> part starts for new CT files with 0 and should be increased every time the CT file is updated.

I have updated several files and created a few more that were missing on the spanish catalog.

What should I do to commit the changes?

There are 3 possibilities:
a) You tell me your Github user name. I'll invite you. You can work directly with the Git repositories.

b) You create Github forks of the catalog repositories and create pull requests.

c) You send the CT files to mrustler  gmx de

I hate to speak for someone else but yes that is general advise.

Note that Mazze offers to accept translation files send to his e-mail in case you do not know or want to use git(hub).

Great; thanks. As I said, I have no knowledge of most of the modern stuff, but I recall FlexCat as mostly working, thus that might be a way back in for me. (Let me see if I can get this ex-W7 machine working now that I've Linux-fied it, and I'll have a look at what is not being done language-wise.)

Is there a version that has everything in it? Or is there a version where the first two columns are stuck? As it is, only the results table tells me about the situation of Dutch, but the language-wise table is too wide/its window is too narrow to show the topic and the Dutch column at the same time.

It looks like it's W10 related, or possibly wide-screen related. (I never wondered whether all programs under W10 react to wide screens the same way.)

So, at <https://github.com/aros-translation-team/translations/wiki/Progress>, here on a high screen on Linux, I can see 6 language columns. At work, all I could see was 3xC and a bit of Danish. Dutch being beyond Danish was outside the inner window. I could shift that window to make Dutch visible, but that meant hiding the Module column. (Yes, I could get the information I wanted; I just wanted it to work for everybody. We may have to settle for everyone but W10 users.)

Mazze: Next instance, can we get a different abbreviation for "catalog missing"? The abbreviation "n/a" usually means "non-applicable", suggesting that for some reason we shouldn't bother with that one at all.

No, sorry: I have no idea what you are looking for. I only know how to read AROS EXEC by browser, and at work I expect that will have been Google Chrome. My phone is a dumbphone, so I have very little experience of working with apps.

No, sorry[: I have no idea what you are looking for. I only know how to read AROS EXEC by browser, and at work I expect that will have been Google Chrome. My phone is a dumbphone, so I have very little experience of working with apps.

OK, I am at work, and indeed, it's Google Chrome. It shows an inner box for the translation files, with around it lots of nothing.  I was wrong about the exact languages show: It's 3 C-languages and all of Danish. Then it shows the edge of the next column, but we see to little to recognise it as Dutch. The same holds for Edge. The overall character-width is a bit larger, there, but that just means less space is wasted around it.
But, it's a stupid mouse who has only one way out (translating from a Dutch expression): I also have PaleMoon, which is not a work-sanction browser, but I keep it handy as an alternative. That one also is forced to waste lots of space, but for the languages it has a size  that fits all languages next to each other.
So, if you need a language to the extreme right, like Finnish, Polish, or Turkisch: PaleMoon is your friend.

In Browsers Chrome, Firefox etc... there is a way to decrease the Fonts size, also there is Zoom which can help !

I still don't understand what you need the Browser for, to edit Catalogs you need a simple Editor, on Windows you can use Notepad ++ (Free) which supports native "AMIGA" texts, also to edit and compile Catalogs you can do it on my AROS One
