https://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Aros/Platforms/x86_Network_support & similar are all horribly out of date... Is there something current (ish) ??

I am getting a system with Intel 82576LM controller onboard and wanted to see if AROS supports.

https://sourceforge.net/p/aros/mailman/message/25643070/ mentions 82574L - does that mean THAT is supported?

Likewise with graphics, last time I looked the newest Nvidia GPU supported was Fermi (so, most GT6xxx/GTX6xxx and some GT7xx cards). Any sign of Pascal? How about AMD Radeon Polaris (GCN4) ?

I'd love to run AROS on reasonably modern hardware so I can boot into Windows or Mac on same machine...

Or is Linux hosted AROS the best way?

aros does not support ahci subsistem, therefore no boot from sata peripherals, only the ide emulation enabled in the bios can make the system work and therefore boot and install, the graphics cards currently the most driven are the gtx of the 4xx series which they also support 3d acceleration, in any case without an nvidia card everything will go in vesa mode, I have different but not very modern systems, an intel i7 870, a dual xeon hp z600 and finally an intel dual core, nothing of the latest generation but I am convinced that there will still be a functional system with the precautions mentioned above

Thanks, I thought AHCI was fixed or being fixed about 5-10 years ago when I last looked at AROS... Sad if not working now

there have been changes within the aros development team, there is a bounty for the ahci subsystem and i don't know if they will do anything about it there is a lot of work to do and at least as far as i know they are busy on abiv1, on the version current aros abiv0 building has blocked updates and is undergoing maintenance by deadwood and someone else but I don't know if something will be done for the ahci, gallium subsystem etc ... etc ...

I guess its a chicken and egg situation... you need more users to attract more devs and you need more devs and development to attract more users... :-(

I agree with you but at the moment this is the situation, which is not so bad, I use aros every day and I rarely resort to windows and linux

Ah, now I see.. I found my old post...

So I can UEFI boot but not with AHCI (which means MacOS is gonna be VERY unhappy and Linux/Windows will work, just not optimally!) ??

I will happily see any info I can (thanks!) but I dont think I will end up using it as I want to use AHCI for the other OSs and dont want to have to change BIOS settings for each OS

there will be a better hosted implementation from the next icaros desktop release
