Do you mean Icaros Desktop is unstable because it uses old AROS and DOpus Magellan? How about AROS One? Does it use pure Wanderer?
Your Tiny Aros looks pretty and clean. Does it use Magellan?
Btw, can you ask someone to list your distribution here http://www.aros.org/download.php ?

no tiny aros use wanderer for list of current distros i have to request to be added

The only stability problems that I've encountered with IcarosDesktop in VirtualBox is in Hosted Mode on Linux when using Magellan. I believe the issue is that the Linux Graphics driver has problems and it crashes.

But when I run IcarosDesktop Native in VirtualBox with Magellan it works great. No problems. So I blame the problems on the Linux drivers not AROS itself. Besides IcarosDesktop version 2.2 8 isn't that old as far as system files. Though deadwood has provided more recent builds

It's just a matter of preference. Some people like using Icaros for various things and some people like using other distros for whatever reason.

Maybe try them all ?  :)

Ok. My very first choice is AROS One x86.
The only AROS I am interested in is a native x86 AROS. No matter what distribution it is.
As I said I choose AROS One for the begining.
I fried a DVD iso. I thought it's bootable, but seems not.
I can browse the disk on MorphOS then the media is ok.
Have to do further investigation.

Why going through the agony of writing a dvd ? There are so many things that can go wrong with that (not only the writing but also with the AROS boot process).

If possible for you then try to either download a usb image and write that directly to a USB pendrive or start the .iso file in a VM and use the Vm to install AROS onto a pendrive (again through the VM).

It might be you do not have access to Windows/Linux/Mac OS in which case using a VM or writing a usb image file might not be possible to realize. My knowledge on MorphOS is next to none so do not know if it is possible to write an (USB) image file.

r-tea, the ISO of AROS One is Bootable from DVD, you probably burned the ISO wrong.

As recommended by magorium use a Pendrive, and you will install AROS One in minutes !

Be careful though, create a live Pendrive from VM with InstallAROS, you will only get an AROS One Live, you will be able to use the system but you will not be able to use it to install AROS !!!

On the other hand, if you want to create a PendriveLive "to install AROS", you have to write "burn" to Pendrive the Image file "ArosOne-x86-USB-Image", with the program "RUFUS" on PC, or you can build it yourself la following the priocedure you will find on AROS One DVD (see screnshot).

Hi AMIGASYSTEM,
is that limitation specific for the AROS One distribution or is that related to regression with AROS in general ? (if the latter then I have missed it)

magorium "no regression", the Live Pendrive created with InstallAROS on VM, cannot be used to Install AROS on PC, you can only use it as Live operating system,

Instead to install AROS from a Pendrive, you can only do it with with the particular procedure sitated above.

Personally I don't waste time with pen drives. I use either an ISO for Virtual Machines or I burn a Live DVD. I've never had issues with the install media. Most problems start after the installation.  ;)

yes miker, but installing AROS from a Pendrive is a hundred, thousand times faster and you don't have problems, which normally happen when using CD/DVD, see bad media or faulty players.

CDs/DVDs are a thing of the past, in fact they are starting to disappear on the shelves of computer stores, and even on new PCs they are disappear the dvd players, same story that happened with videotapes, music tapes and floppies.

Using a USB flash drive is not faster than using an ISO image. One uses the USB bus which has a finite max transfer speed especially for USB 2.0 and the other simply uses the file system for the VM where it is mounted.

Certainly a USB flash drive will be faster than an electo-optical drive at data transfer. Either an internal IDE/SATA or external USB optical drive will be slower than a USB drive. That's because the USB flash drive is solid state electronics with no mechanical moving parts which are inherently slow.

But I have never had problems with bad optical drives or faulty optical disks when dealing with AROS. Maybe you should spend some money to buy a better drive or more reliable media.   ;D

The ISO is very fast, but you can only use it on VM, if you need to install AROS on a Real PC, the DVD is very slow, and it takes much longer to install AROS, same thing if you need to install Windows 10

@Miker:
Nothing wrong with using physical media. It poses two issues a) people that burn their cd/dvd's at the highest speed on shady media (or use rewritable media) which history has proven can cause many headaches and b) the device has to be supported by AROS (although that is also true for USB but there is nothing more annoying than staring at cat eyes during boot).

Actually there is a third one and that is when you do not have an actual cd/dvd-drive (in your system) to begin with ;D

Same here as for VM. The only thing I know it's kind of emulation. I wonder why emulation while AROS is native.
I use Linux Mint. ISO burned with Xfburn. What are your advices as for burning the ISO? I don't want to give up easily for now. If it will fail too long I'll try an USB stick.

I burn AROS One ISOs to PC with Nero Burning !

It seems strange to me that your DVD doesn't Boot, make sure that your PC has been set to boot from CD

If the ISO does Boot from Virtual Machine, with certainty it must also do so from CD/DVD

When I initially tried installing AROS Hosted on Linux I tried using Linux Mint but with no luck. It wouldn't install correctly so I switched to Ubuntu instead then everything worked as expected. Maybe newer versions of Linux Mint have fixed those issues. But earlier versions didn't work.
