@gkb

If you want to create two partitions for AROS, you don't need to create them first with other tools, it only takes one

The 2 AROS partitions you can make them easily and quickly with InstallAROS, important to follow the correct procedure, basically DH1 should be created automatically from InstallAROS menu, from GUI you can choose Size and Filesystem, watch my attached video

Sounds good.

80GB for Windows 7 should be enough.
I have ISO files of all the CD's of games I want to play - I have dug out an unused 4GB SD card from a drawer, so I can use that to copy the ISO files to Windows 7, mount the ISO files with a virtual CD mounter, and install the games.
I will format that card to FAT32, as from what I can tell, AROS only has read support for NTFS, and it might be handy to have read/write access from Windows 7 and AROS.
The ZG5 has an SD card slot, so might as well make use of it.
I am guessing that if I shrink the Windows 7 partition after I factory reset it, AROS will install to the unused space on the disk and leave Windows 7 alone.
I am also guessing that the grub installation performed by AROS will see the Windows 7 installation, and add that as a boot option.

No NTFS also works for writing, at the moment I have not encountered any problems but use it with caution.
For Activate NFS you have to copy to "L" the Handler located in the "Storage" Folder, after copying it rename it "ntfs-handler"

Attention on "Z5" SD is not bootable ! also AROS doesn't support SD, you can manage SD through an SD/USB Adapter

Hmmm - ok.

Change of plan then.

I will just use the SD card to copy data to Windows 7.
Since Windows 7 has been out of support for quite some time there will be a lot of un-patched security holes - so keeping it offline is probably the best idea.
It will only have one job - and that is to run games, and since all the games I plan to run don't need a network connection this will work fine.

AROS will be connected to the outside world.
I have a raspberry pi running as a samba file server/mp3 file upnp streamer, so I will see if there is a way to mount the samba shares in AROS and copy data to and from AROS that way.
This will get around the lack of SD card support.
If AROS can't mount samba shares I will use a USB key instead.

I use ntfs3g to read the NTFS partitions, just change the automotun-config file that is in /L and replace the ntfs-handler string with ntfs3g-handler add the filesysbox.library in /libs and ntfs3g-handler in /L

PS.There is an unsolved bug for samba on aros

on AROS One you don't need to add anything it's all updated and preset, as mentioned just need to copy ntfs3g-handler and rename.

@gkb
There are many ways to exchange data, in addition to Pendrives, External Hard Disks and CD/DVD, as mentioned even SDs you can use as long as you have a small adapter SD/USB

RDesktop should also work well for data exchange with the PC.

Another tip to speed up Z5 ' is to install AROS on External USB HD, this way you can try and use AROS One also on other PCs.

If you use an external USB HD, you can create partitions in FAT 32 to share with any other Operating System.

Just to say your ZG5's SD card slot might work if t's wired up internally as a USB device - that's the case for my Samsung n130 and eee PC 4G. However, as noted some don't (as is the case for my HP  Compaq laptop), but it's worth a try to see if it is recognised by AROS once the machine is in your hands.

Cheers,
Nigel.

P.S. hope you have fun with AROS  :D

Thank you all for the feedback.

I will insert the SD card when AROS is installed and hope for the best.
That is If the ZG5 ever gets here - ebay says it has been dispatched, so it is sat in a Royal Mail depot somewhere - and they have just voted to go on strike again.  >:(

If SD and Samba don't work I can use a USB key for data transfer - I found an old 4GB one last night.

No my procedure is correct, on AROS One x86 there are 3 versions do NTFS-Hndler in Storage, you have to choose the most updated one, as you see from the screenshot I mounted ONE "1000 GB" HD in NTFS, in the next version I will delete the other versions left there only for eventual Tests.
