My 10 year old gigabyte z77 mb with its i5 has served me well. Yesterday I used the windows 10 ssd to drag some old files from it (I try never to use windows whenever possible). It was obviously updating in the background but not caring for the install, only my data, once I had my data I turned off the pc and put a Linux ssd back in but it wouldn't boot, corrupt BIOS!!!
Windows upgrading to 11 in the background can corrupt the BIOS??? Incredible!!!!
Lucky this mb has dual bios that I used for the first time in its 10 year life with me to restore it.
Back on track...
I will probably have this trusty mb for a few years yet.
When the time comes (hopefully in the distant future) I will no doubt be changing to ARM or even RISK V (probably with many others). So, let's go ARM.. eventually
