Switching to SDL2 does not always mean that SDL1 client won't connect anymore. Please validate if the game still connects.

Also, don't these games have local play options with BOTs? Are they multiplayer only?

I ran Cube2 on WMWare locally "off-line" and it worked even if slowly, I used a 2010 version of Cube2 !
