On AROS One x86 there is also "FontTester" which also allows you to test Fonts on a background, but it cannot be associated as a tool in the tooltype icon , missing function, so for quick reference it is very convenient to do it through the icon.

So are you using two different methods (Font Viewers) to display TrueType Fonts and Bitmap Fonts ? Which apps do the icon Tooltypes use to display each type of font ?

Yes I use 2 different tools "ViewFont" included on Dopus5 for "Bitmap Fonts" while for "TrueType Fonts" I use ViewISO

miker, what you see in the screenshot is "Font Tester," the application allows you to test fonts in any size even on backgrounds, it also allows you to add and place written text.

Improved the function of FontView (taken from Dopus5) on AROS One x86, now when you click Font from an icon, it shows both Font Type and Font Size chosen, this waspossible thanks to "wbXcli" by Magorium !

Very neat piece of functionality  :); Thanks again for working to make AROSOne so polished (built of course on the massive recent progress from the developers on the core system) - that realy makes such a difference when a new user trys out the system.

Cheers,
Nigel.

Thanks, AROS One really focuses on its look, of course there are some "fanatic" users who like the old Amiga icons, maybe all different size and ugly to see, or classic Amiga windows theme.

As you said all the "new attracts" many users especially new users, having AROS with a default or old Amiga style look makes a new user think that nothing has changed, and so they trash AROS after starting it.

Yes really good Amitranslate, simple, fast and great Translator thanks to "deepl"

I have always used deepl on my PCs, in my opinion the best Translator on the Web

https://www.deepl.com/translator

On OS3 as already mentioned, on Amiga there was an old Off-line program called "Ital" that translated from English to Italian, also possible translation of amigaguide and html documents, without loss of text formatting. On Dopus4 you could translate automatically, with one click, see attached my old video

Create the icons for the new Applications released these days, of course for the 8 Types of Icons used by AROS One x86/68k.

I would like to mention that in the ISO of AROS One x86 v2.1, I forgot to add the new updated Icons archives for the 4 Typologies, which you will find in the next release of AROS One.

Should anyone be interested in a type they can create an installation package.

The 64x62 sized icons are not included on AROS One, but they are prepared for a future Wanderer that can resize the system icons automatically, at the moment it is not convenient to mix icons of different sizes, this would lead to a missed alignment and distances of the icons and the text, visible in the screenshot.

I would like to report that if anyone has problems to Install BoingIconBar on AROS One x86 v2.1, to replace AmiStart, this is due to the fact that in the Dock Menu there is the icon of "SMB2", when a file/icon is not found, BoingIconBar fails.

I remind you that for a definitive installation, so the replacement of AmiStart, you have to do it through the script "Install-BoingIconBar" that you find in the path SYS:System\BoingIconBar

To solve it just edit the "Iconbar.prefs" Text File you find in the Env-Archive and delete SMB2 from the "Internet" menu, or create the "SMB2" connection with SMB2-GUI, which will automatically create the SMB2 Storage/DOSDriver with its Icon, you can also copy it by hand.

What is the difference between AmiStart and BoingIconBar?

Theoretically no difference, AmiStart is on the style of Start "WinXP", besides aclicking on icons it allows you to navigate and run all the Apps available in the paths.

BoingIconBar is on the Mac's Dock, which was originally born on AMIGA systems, this one allows you to have multiple sections "just turn the Mouse wheel or change sections from the Menu"

BoingIconBar is native AROS and can also be configured by hand, while AmiStart is more complex and allows for many more functions.
