For Alladin it says A-Eon acquired the Amiga OS/Morph OS/AROS version in 2014. It would have been nice!

Not sure about the other one.

Yes Aladdin 4D is in a-eon property, but I don't know how long it will pass before having a port to Aros, many years have already passed, DiscreteFX had communicated that they had to take care of it, as far as Tornado 3D appears in the list of software Haage&partner owners even if it was developed by a team of Italians :-\

I had also contacted the realsoft in the past, they were very kind to answer me and not only, I told him about Aros and if they could do a port of real3d version 68k, they told me they could do it but then they had problems during the compilation and maybe they didn't have much time to dedicate him :-\

I  think A-Eon doesn't want to invest more money into updating old Amiga software for NG. Their focus is not creating a bootable OS4-based distribution, so Aladdin4D and OctaMED are probably never going to happen.

This is just like television, only you can see much further.

If they don't intend to spend time and money updating Alladin4D they could make it open source for community development or offer it for sale to the community for a bounty to become open source. If Directory Opus can go that route others can as well.

From the screenshots it looks like a nice piece of software.

If they wanted to recoup some of their investment, that work I guess, but even if it succeeds that's just one part of the puzzle. Someone would have to update Aladdin4D's spaghetti code to work on modern systems.

yes perhaps a decade has passed since they have the code of octamed sound studio and aladdin, the same imagefx have re-proposed it without making a native porting, for directory opus 5 there was a bounty to buy the sources from the community

Yes. Spaghetti Code. Even the rendering programs that are open source aren't easy to port to AROS for a variety of reasons. Some have outdated user interfaces or the code is highly complicated and not modular. In some cases like Skulpt3D and RayStorm it is written in C++ which I don't fully understand and both of these rely heavily on external libraries such as Storm Mesa or D3D. I looked at Blender code a few days ago. It seems highly complicated and it's not very modular. So it's not portable.

It's a rather complicated ordeal coming up with a Rendering Program that will work on AROS. That is not saying that in the future some applications like these can't be ported to AROS. The more of these the better it will be to give users more choices.

I'm not saying don't open a bounty for it If there are enough interested people, but I'd first ask how much A-Eon would like for the sources.

I wrote to Haag&Partener about Tornado3D, if you can get obvious paid sources, let's see what they answer :-\
