Hi.

I have a issue with WinUAE and current build of Apollo OS. I have downloaded latest emulator for Windows and cloned the git repository on a Ubuntu-based virtual machine. I have previously downloaded all needed components with apt-get and building went all OK. However, when I try to run Apollo OS, the system stops booting before loading the workbench with an illegal instructions, either when loading compositor, or when executing the setclock command.

Two considerations here: I am using a fairly expanded winuae configuration with an A4000-like machine using 128 MB of Z3 RAM, 4 MB chip, no slow and no fast RAM. Emulated video card is UAE's RTG one. Mainstream AROS 68K from www.aros.org is working good with the same configuration. ROMS are taken from the HUNK directory and same goes for all other system files. I followed all instructions. So, where am I wrong?

Doesn't the stock build of ApolloOS use 68080 specific instructions? I think it was doing that at one point.

According to the documentation, there is an option (I used) for the rebuild-all.sh script that re-enables AROS components for extended compatibility, so it should be technically possible to run ApolloOS on non-68080 processors.

Hi Paolo, sorry for the late reply, I missed this post.

ApolloOS boots without problems on WinUAE, but if you downloaded one of the latest ApolloOS disk images, it cannot boot on WinUAE because in the image there are also FAT partitions.

From this image you can easily extract the bootable Amiga partition, with WinUAE use the maximum configuration allowed for an A4000, if you want you can download my config file, as ROM always use the two ROMs that you find in the official Nightly Build 68k that are always the most updated.

Excuse me paolone,
But when you say mainstream AROS 68K from www.aros.org is working good for you do you mean AROS vision?

I would like to add that ApolloOS has no problem booting on WinUAE, as said above you have to use the official AROS 68k ROMs and delete from the Startup-sequence some commands addressed to the Vampire hardware.
