AROS One ABIv1 Work In Progress

For those who would like to try "AROS ABIv1", I have created a version of AROS One ABIv1, currently available for Download only on this forum.

 The reason for this decision, is because there are no third-party software on ABIv1, except for a few applications released with the "ABIv1" contrib, there are no navigation and multimedia sofware.

You will not find any difference between the settings of the different versions of AROS One.

ABIv1 is not much different from ABIv0, both have the same bugs and few differences.

For example ABIv1 no assigns the right def_ icon to USB volumes, while it correctly recognizes the NoDOS volume (see screenshot)

In contrast ABIv0 assigns the correct def_ Icon to the USB volume, but does not assign any def_icon to the NoDOS volume.

Of course, to make this evaluation I used the same Datatypes Descriptors.

Note: on AROS One ABIv1 you can change themes on BoingIconBar, without rebooting the system

I integrated ABIv1 into AROS One, did some tests, BoingIconBar can now be closed, Skins exchange through my scripts works perfectly, see small video attached:

On ABv1 I found some anomalies:

- PenDrives are displayed with Floppy Icon (def_Disk) , on ABIv0 the correct icon is shown (def_USB")

- Italian Keymaps is corrupted, some com keys and "Enter" "Backspace" do not work and probably others (on ABIv0 works fine)

-  All executables in the "System/Wanderer/Tools" folder, if no icon is present, are no longer executable or work poorly, "DiskInfo" does not show Icon information, "WBNewDrawer" does not allow you to create a new folder, "WBRename", does not allow you to rename a file, I believe "Info", "ExecuteStartup" and "ExecuteCommand" also do not work as they should.

- GCC and C++ files in Contrib ABVIv1 "are non-executable" !

This problem also exists on ABIv0, I already reported to deadwood some time ago!


Question, is there any place to find "ABIv1" software for the Network nothing exists?

The Wanderer tools need an icon because they are receiving their parameters as workbench message.

Yes but if the icon is not present no function of the tools works "binaries become non-executable", in previous versions of AROS this did not happen !

Please unpack the attached file and copy it to Devs/Keymaps.

Ok Mazze, now the Italian keyboard is working fine, it works perfectly even on AROS One 68k (see screenhot)!

I noticed that in the new version of "BoingIconBar", you can now change the Font type and Fonts size on the "Icons" of the Doc Bar, through the "LABELFONT" and "FONTSIZE" parameters in the ToolTypes.

For the Menu instead, it seems you have to use the "SYSFONT" parameter the Fonts name is accepted, but the Font size is too small, what should be done to assign a larger Fonts?

I tested your latest Bulit, and found that the Pointer Prefs does not work, basically it does not allow to set and save the Pointer !

Build tested is "AROS-20230710-pc-i386-boot-iso.zip"

I noticed that on ABIv1 there was an update on InstallAROS, what are the new features and what other options will be available in the future ?

Improved appearance Buttons and added missing icons for Harddisk Drive on new InstallAROS!

In my opinion the  resize of the Tab "Harddisk Drive" and could moved to the right or left, or above, this is to prevent the open Tab from invading the fields below !

Or move the Only use free space, WipeDisk and Use existing AROS partitions options to the left.
