Same here as for VM. The only thing I know it's kind of emulation.
Let's stick to that thought as in basics it is correct.

I wonder why emulation while AROS is native. I use Linux Mint.
A bit of a technical babble (please don't fall asleep).

The AROS installer that allows you to install AROS on real hardware (the one that is said to not be working: have to figure that out later) is only available on AROS.

Thus in order to be able to run that you need to start AROS, then invoke the AROS installer. That is a chicken egg problem.

Normally you install a complete OS inside a VM but since we only need to be able to boot AROS so that we can invoke the installer there is no need to install AROS into a VM (but you can of course do that if you want as it is a nice experience).

The quickest way to boot AROS on real hardware is to either boot a cd/dvd or pendrive. Going with the latter we need create a bootable pendrive that contains AROS. There are many programs that are able to uinstall an OS to a pendrive but unfortunately AROS is a bit different in that it creates a real AROS live system (and that includes the filesystem that AROS uses). afaik there is no program avilabel that is able to do that for you, so the quickest way is:
1) download AROS pendrive img
2) write image to pendrive
3) insert pendrive into real hardware
4) boot aros, play around in live mode
5) install AROS on the real hardware

If there is no pendrive image available:
1) download cd/dvd iso
2) setup a VM capable of running AROS, point cd/dvd drive to AROS ISO
3) boot VM from iso
4) insert pendrive, mount it inside the VM
5) invoke the (separate) pendrive installer
then continue at step 3 in the previous list of steps.

ISO burned with Xfburn. What are your advices as for burning the ISO? I don't want to give up easily for now. If it will fail too long I'll try an USB stick.
No real advise. Are you using rewritable media or single write media ? I have very bad experience with the former so would advise against using it with regards to the latter use lowest speed possible. If possible try to boot the media on other hardware as well in order to see if at least the burn was performed as intended.

Especially the "wrong" burns and the risk that AROS is unable to boot from your cd-dvd drive is too much e-waste for me.

Are you using a ide, sata or usb cd/dvd drive ? the first is most compatible, the second hit or miss and latter usb one has never worked without issues for me.

Use a DVD instead of a CD, nothing changes  :)

Are you sure? Doesn't an ISO image requires the exact media type is was created for?

In the meanwhile the Icaros Desktop Lite CD is burning. I'll check it out for a while.

Ok. Looks my notebook's CD/DVD drive is dying. Tomorrow it fried dvd but it can't browse it. Today I fried CD on MacMini/MOS and I can browse it there, but my notebook/LinuxMint cant browse the cd.
I guess It's not about ISOs. It's my pc hardware. I''ll try to clean the lens...

Very sure, a CD ISO can be written to DVD, you just need to inpost the DVD "mode" on the Burner ;)

I add that if you want you can also create a "DVD Video" on CD, normally called MiniDVD, of course the videos must not exceed the size of a CD :)

A good reason to use a Pendrive, you will save time and money !

Ok, Amiwell. My CD/DVD drive appeared to be a crap. Sometimes work, sometimes not.
I downloaded Tiny AROS ISO for flash drives. Wonder why the file name is called Live CD.
What to do next?

...

Ok.
Finally managed to write the Tiny AROS ISO to an USB stick. Did it on my Linux Mint.
Unfortunately it won't boot. It always mount as a AROS Live CD, but it won't boot. Of course I set removable disk on the top in BIOS boot priority.

r-tea, you are wrong, you can't write an "AROS" ISO to Pendrive, there are no programs on Windows, Linux, MAC that can do it, they don't have the AROS knowledge !!!

As already said several times, on the Pendrives you can write only USB images (if you have to use it to install AROS), or via VM+ISO install AROS on Pendrive.

Yes Rufus is what I recommend to use to Write my AROS One x86 USB Image, in the previous posts I also attached the link.

Rufus is one of the best programs to write an ISO or USB/HD Image, but it cannot write an AROS ISO, no program can do that now.

Some years I discussed with the developer of Rufus (he was an Amiga 500 user), I proposed him to support AROs ISOs, but then looking at the content of the OS he said he did not have the knowledge to support AROS ISO

Hi AMIGASYSTEM,
is that limitation specific for the AROS One distribution or is that related to regression with AROS in general ? (if the latter then I have missed it)

You are right, a live Pendrive can be created in a virtual machine using InstallAROS directly.

It had never worked in the past, today I wanted to verify andwith the Live Pendrive created with InstallerAROS alone, it is possible to install AROS on PC.

Sorry for the misunderstanding I will correct the various posts written not to confuse the readers !

No problem AMIGASYSTEM and thank you for the correction.

Just for the record, my experience is based on the pendrive installer from Icaros Desktop but the (generic) installer should in theory work for every AROS distribution (including yours) and for every device that you want to install to.

In the basics you only need to have a small (read: nightly) pendrive installation that you can test on real hardware. Once booted you can install that on real hardware and then manually copy over files from any other device in order to setup/configure any AROS distribution (if you know what you are doing). It is a bit of work though  :)

My AROS One USB image is a clone of the AROS One DVD, and includes the same third-party software already installed and configured.

On AROS one there are no Compacted Applications, both the DVD and the USB image include all ready-to-use software.

I need to understand the Difference between the "Live Pendrive" creation created with just installAROS, and the "Live Pendriver" made via the Script created by Paolone and adapted by me for AROS One.

Ok, guys. I gave up on usb. Crappy cd drive in my laptop happily managed to boot and ran Icaros Light up to the Workbench. I was surprised there were no installation script.
Do I miss something?
As repairing / replacing the laptop's CD needs time, I quickly bought an external USB one, but it woun't work this way. To shorten  this discussion: I fully understand what are the BIOS boot ops and boot priority.
I got tired a little of it. But I will do something with te CD after hollidays and will try again. All the more that I saw it working.
