what computer are you currently using, because in my two intel core 2 duo aros does not work stops in the initialization screen, I would not buy another computer and have the same result, now I must get an old pentium 4 paid 20 euros, however first I did not have these problems at least until the version of icaros 1.5.2

Common sabbate.....  You should know better then that  (although i haven't tried with latest Icaros release).

AROS runs just fine on a intel core 2 duo there are sometimes simply issues with sata as well as issues with some optical drives (spindown).

Perhaps you could start with some better description of the problems that you encounter ?

Meaning... a non core2duo machine ?

It is very difficult to supply help if you keep changing configurations. Every configuration can have its own individual (and specific) issues.

That is a good example of a description that isn't helpful at all.

In your first message you wrote "stops in the initialization screen" which can mean about anything. I am assuming that you meant the (AROS) grub bootloader there but for all i know you meant the initialization screen of your bios/system.

Intel or not does not make a difference.

AROS runs on about any system i was able to throw at it over the years, but they all have their own individual workarounds and/or issues.

And yes, that does mean that if you have incompatible sound/network/graphics that not everything works as you would expect. Vesa, no sound, no network, IDE legacy being the bare minimum, but it runs AROS.

The more modern the hardware the more complicated workarounds and the more incompatible (default) hardware becomes as AROS is for sure lacking in some department. UEFI, Secure boot, USB 3.0 etc can make things a bit more tedious or sometimes preventing AROS to boot at all, but in such cases the hardware is usual such modern that you are far better of running AROS hosted or virtualized.

The question is: have you tried the advanced kernel options? Sometimes disabling new features helps booting on "not working" systems. Expecially the ones where AROS worked before.

I have a HP Z420 Six Core XEON and Icaros Desktop 2.2.5 experimental runs on it!

I installed version 1.4.5, because the 1.5.2 also gave me some problems, on the topics found, everything is fine, you have the problem of the browser on some sites, otherwise everything is ok

after I bought another computer, the situation has not changed, so I decided to use just as I said in the other interventions an old release, the only noteworthy software that does not run is odyssey 1.25, but the thing does not worries, I'm happy instead of the fate that I started icaros 1.4.5 on all my computers without any problem, so I decided to keep this system active, maybe there could be someone who has my same problem, I can not find the night build 2 August 2012, patience, of course I will change all the points of reference with icaros, at the end of the month I agree with a programmer to update the libreia openssl on odyssey 1.16, I do not go on youtube, but I'm thinking of another way to access you, the distribution will be called summer 2012, I'm already on patreon, I thank all the programmers who made available aros

the fact is i own a dell dimension E520 and with a rtel8139 and a sound blaster sound cart i can access without any problem to the net,
execute programs and all

this kind of computer is less price in the market and works well.

I will not buy other computers thanks for the advice, however I do all this for my passion for this system and then maybe in the future there may be problems with old computers and maybe you never know maybe someone needs
