No, the ISO "https://axrt.org/development/AROS-20201110-D15-pc-i386-boot-iso.zip" is just for testing, you don't have to use it in the distribution, the fixes introduced in this ISO are included in the patch attached today by deadwood, this one:

I found a regression with D15 compared to D14. My Dell Precision T7500 workstation and Inspiron 6400 laptop both hang at "[Kernel:APIC-IA32] MSI Interrupts Allocatable". They boot if I use noioapic.

The PCI-E nVidia graphics do work on the T7500 though (with noioapic), including ScreenMode prefs.

Thanks for the Patch, at the moment I haven't encountered any problems with programs that use Toolbar.mcc, if one happens I will report it to you.

Ok, thanks. The window of regression was quite narrow (2021-04 till now) - only programs compiled in that window will have problems. Hopefully none of those programs used Toolbar.mcc.

Damn, that's a shame. I was hoping this was the last bug... D14 had "noioapic" hardcoded, so that's why it worked for you I guess. I have access to some Dell laptops so I will try how ISO boots on them. Is the photo taken from booting in VESA mode or native mode? If native, can you also try VESA? Can you also boot linux on them, do 'lspci -v" and share the output.

EDIT: Also, are you booting from a device that under 'lspci -v' lists IRQ < 24?

@AMIGASYSTEM, @Amiwell

It would probably make sense to copy of grub configuration line for native drivers with "noioapic" option added, so that people who experience problems have a workaround.

Thanks deadwood I will add in the Grub of AROS One "noioapic", although my PCs don't change anything if I add "noioapic"

With ACER ASpire 5920 laptop (NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GS/GT), i keep getting a black screen even though I use "noioapic"

Hi All,

I'm now moving onto Reboot/Shutdown problem (https://github.com/deadw00d/AROS/issues/87). I would like you to test on your hardware:

- please use D15 ISO, use noioapic switch is necessary to boot
- use VESA mode only, no native graphics
- minimize the amount hardware connected to your computer - if possible just keyboard and mouse
- use only shell Shutdown or Reboot commands, nothing else and describe the behavior
- list hardware you are using, computer model or motherboard model

1) Shutdown:
- computer shuts down OR
- computer displays screen telling to use Power button OR
- computer screen goes black, nothing happens

2) Reboot cold
- computer reboots OR
- computer screen goes black, nothing happens

3) Reboot
- AROS reboots without rebooting computer OR
- computer reboots
- computer screen goes black, nothing happens
- computer screen freezes, nothing happens

Ok, I am testing this under Vmware Workstation Player 17 (the program once called just 'player').

Shutdown shell command, VESA video mode:

1) shutdown -> works correctly and closes VMware window as well

2) reboot cold -> KO, it still closes VMware window (acqually shutting down the VM instead of rebooting it)

3) reboot -> KO, black screen

Just for more information, Shutdown shell command, NATIVE VMare driver:

1) same as VESA
2) same as VESA
3) no black screen, AROS just freezes

The photo is from VESA mode on the T7500, but the same thing happens with native mode. I've attached the output from lspci.

For the IRQ question, I'm booting from USB and my EHCI devices for the T7500 are listed as having IRQs 5 and 9 under Linux (note that I had to boot Mint Linux in "compatibility mode", so I'm not sure if that affected the IRQs).

Getting stuck on the Dell logo could be a BIOS bug. I have a Dell laptop that does this, even when rebooting Windows.

Ok, I see from output that USB is attached to first IO-APIC in both case, so my theory is not valid. As mentioned, I will try with some Dell laptops that I have access to to see if you I reproduce.
