[resolved] Aros One x86 ready on a old computer but the net ?

Hello all

So now i have a Aros Computer, working fine even if grub rescue problem i success to go booting with choosing the good hd.
So then surely a bios option to unput or else.

The fact is i come back to you because i'"m in search of an usb dongle, to get the net on it, as my internet box is full of rj45 cables and no way to find an ethernet one for it.

edit: ok i went to Aros One to get better icons The fact is the system is good but i saw this on the documentation:

1.10.7 Network
Any PCI network card based on RTL 8029, Etherlink 3, AMD Pcnet 32, Nvidia Nforce, intel Pro/100, RTL
8139, RTL 8168/9 (also 8110 and others), SiS 900, Via Rhine will work. Using one of those is the only way
to get networking running on AROS. No modems supported yet.
Note: if you have a TRL8168 or compatible network card, please choose the RTL8169 driver!

But i need a wifi dongle, i think i have one which is atheros ? is there anybody who knows about it ?

I don't know of a Wifi dongle that will work, if you have a Router you can connect a LAN Network Cable, HERE you will find compatible Lan Network Cards also tested with AROS One.

If you have a supported Ethernet card you can use one of these for computers or devices that do not have a way to use Wifi https://www.amazon.com/s?k=vonets+vap11g-300&sprefix=vonets%2Caps%2C270&ref=nb_sb_ss_deep-retrain-ln-ops-acceptance_3_6

For example, I have an old HP LaserJet 1300 that has a network port and no option for Wifi. Pluged one of these to it and Voila' it's now on Wifi

Yes thanx a lot. i personnaly allready own a pci x  1 8139 net cart and i go to test it on my icaros tower in a pci x 8 slot.
So i think it will works ?

edit: ok i tried to install a rtl 8139c on this computer but i do not know which is this brown slot ? if any ideas to put in a ethernet cart for example ?

Ok second chance ^^

I just bought a 28€ old computer in which i have installed a ethernet card 8139c and a nvidia 9500.
recognized by icaros desktop in my souvenirs ^^

So the problem is that the ventirad detachs itself and i have no idea if this computer boots right or not !

A friend will repair it later in this day.

You can get it to work with the old script reported on aros-exec.

So the fact is my friend owns a computer repair shop an i will pay him to get my new Icaros desktop Computer on tuesday or later.
With rtl819 ethernet cart and nvidia 9500 gt.

I bought also some chinese ethernet switch to have the net on it soon.

And finally i will tell you more  on next week, with my new icaros computer, internet on it can wait some more

All true (although when I was using one regulalry it's reliability wan't too bad, just a bit slow and it doesn't like DHCP, you need static addresses) but as I understand it if anyone does want a USB Wi-Fi dongle, it's the only choice. However, if it is possible to use an Atheros mini-PCI instead, it is a lot better.

Go to install Icaros Desktop 2.3 instead of Aros One x86 due to update service ^^

Not a problem, you will install AROS One 1.9 as soon as it is Distributed
