About a year ago I assembled a mini pc dedicated to using and testing AROS. It's a Mitac mini itx board in a Morex mini case.

My main complaint was that the graphics chip wasn't supported by AROS so I only get Vesa 1024x768. And there is no optical drive and no way to share files. The screenmode is ok for tests.

So I came up with an interesting solution for file sharing. My Amiga 1200 has an internal SD card reader connected by a 44 pin ide ribbon. So I thought I could set up something similar in the mini itx case but space is very limited. And there are only two SATA connectors and no ide connector on the board.

A SATA to 44 pin IDE adapter is attached to the ide sd card reader. Then SATA cables connect it to the board. It works. So now I can easily transfer files using inexpensive sd cards. I plan to use the SATA to IDE adapter + sd card reader in the future.

Having accomplished that I'm re-building a Shuttle XPC S120G Cube PC for use with AROS. It has the Intel GMA graphics and space for a cdrom or internal multi card reader. It also has a flex atx 350 watt power supply and three SATA connectors and one IDE on the board. It supports max 4GB DDR2-800 memory. It also has a Core 2 Duo CPU. So I hope the Shuttle PC should be very compatible with AROS. Then I can have a better experience.

miker don't you have USB ports on your PC to connect external USB hard drives, Pendrives or MemoryCards?

Well you found a compatible mini itx card, with the new Gallium update the GMA 950 chipset should improve as performance :)

I have USB 2.0 ports but the 16GB flash drives wouldn't mount.
.
Is there a special fotmat for the flash drives? Fat16 or Fat32?

The Shuttle XPC has GMA but the mini itx with intel Atom CPU has a different graphics chip that isn't compatible with AROS.

I've never had any problem with External USB HardDisk of any size, no problem with 4/8/GB Pendrives, I think 16GB ones work fine too.

Of course you have to use the FAT32 filesystem, on AROS also FFS and SFS formatted devices work.

NTFS is read-only!

I did use an sd card that was formatted as NTFS. It mounted and I was able to see the files. It was probably read only. Not sure.

I will check my flash drive to see what fs it uses. But in VirtualBox in AROS One x86 I used the same flash drive and it mounted just fine. I wonder what is different?

I'm using my AROS Native which is Icaros 2.2.8 to test the new MultiView 1.8 but it isn't ready for users yet. It still has issues. When I use Window> Maximize for a picture that is bigger than or one side is same size as the screen it will Maximize. But it won't return to Normal size and position correctly.

The USB mount issue isn't a big deal at the moment. I mostly use SD cards for working with AROS. They are small and relatively inexpensive to use.

On AROS One x86 NTFS is disabled because it's to be tested, if you want to enable NTFS on AROS One v1.6 x86, you have to copy ntfs-handler in the "L" folder and reboot.

You can find ntfs.handler in the "Storage" folder, there are two of them, if you use "ntfs3g-handler" NTFS will work both in read and write, before copying it in "L" remember to rename it from "ntfs3g-handler" to "ntfs-handler".

Regarding Multiview, I will wait for your release before distributing the new version of AROS One x86, maybe in the meantime you will have also finished the program (now I do not remember the name) to change the type of Icon.

On AROS 68k instead as soon as you have time the compilation of IconClone 1.7 for AROS 68k

AMIGASYSTEM

I'm working on all that you mentioned although slowly at times. I also work full time during the day at my work from home job.

And my wife says I spend too much time on the computer. But what does she know? I'm trying to do great things.  :)

Thanks for the information about NTFS.

I understand you changed tab for the fact that the graphics chip is supported, however I with a USB adapter I read the sd now I don't remember if they are 8 or 16 gb
