AROS One 68k v1.2: Download


AROS One 68k ABI-v1: New version of the AROS Distro dedicated to 68k, this release includes many new features since the last version, many updated Applications, including new programs and new icons for the most common files.

Also the file associations have been improved, Icon.Library by PeterK has been added that associated with Deficons OS3 now allows you to associate many other file types not supported by Wanderer, also are present in the Distro "CopyIcon" and "IconType" for the management of Icons, another tool that is missing on Wanderer.

AROS One 68k is distributed on HardFile, once unpacked the zipped HardFile it will be ready to be started by WinUAE, attached also the correct WinUAE Config and the updated ROMs to be copied in the WinUAE Roms folder.

N.B = AROS One is no longer compatible with Vampire in the Distro there are no Driver, Monitor or other files belonging to this tab. For those who use a Real Amiga is under construction an AROS One 68k version that can be started with KickStart 3.x without the need to map the native AROS Roms.

except each time I try to download it, I get…

I say yes, of course…
But the download fails.

Any Ideas?

I think it's a false positive no other user had the problem, try another computer.

Now also AmiModRadio is compatible with AROS 68k, AmiModRadio as ModExplorer allows you to listen to the Music Modules downloaded at random from the Web, to get this I had to replace the "rexxsyslib.library" with the sdi OS3 one.

Managed to get it downloaded & up and running…
…lovely looking.
Now I just have some problems… things that work, work quite nicely… things that don’t, crash or freeze up.
Multiview works quite nice but unfortunately doesn’t support colour cycling (one of  iff’s & Gif’s more charming features), I managed to change the theme with some difficulty but couldn’t change the fonts in prefs or the base 8 colours. Grafx2 seemed to try to open but just gave a white screen… requiring a reboot. Tried PPaint same result, strangely I believe it worked on AROS Vision 68k., TV Paint didn't work nor FX Paint or VAMP but I managed to run Photogenics v5! Deluxe Music v2 crashed unfortunately but Final Writer ran, only with extremely slow screen redraws, but it looked great.
Nice to have CopyIcon & Annotate included both of which work fine.
I hope I haven’t unintentionally sounded negative because I really do think it is great work!
Also I’m running it in FS-UAE on a Mac which might not be ideal.
It’s really exciting to see all this AROS love & development.

GrafX2 behaves like this even on OS3 RTG, GrafX2 seems to support only 256 colors, read here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GrafX2

Also PPaint unfortunately does not work well with RTG screens, same problem with OS3 RTG.

AROS 68k is under construction, I am not a developer, I hope it will soon get better still

ModExplorer 3: Download

ModExplorer: New version greatly improved now you can choose the music genre and the release date of the modules, also the speed is improved, practically the MOD will start as soon as the application will run, now there will be no more waiting time thanks to the Database used by the application.

The only sore point is the language "in German only".

ModExplorer 3 is also distributed for 68881, OS4, AROS x86, AROS 68k, MOS e WarpOS.

For the correct operation must install Mui Royale, Codeset, and AISS .

Since the release of the latest version of iGame I wanted to test it on AROS One 68k, the previous version was crashing. Now the GUI works well also the screenshots are qualitative, the only flaw is the configuration not supported by Zune, it's not a problem just prepare it on OS3 or edit by hand the config file.

Of course to run iGame I had to update the system with some OS3 library, with standard AROS 68k it doesn't work like it doesn't work on ApolloOS.

AROS One 68k v1.3 preview, I enclose a small video that shows the work done on AROS One 68k, in some ways similar to AROS One x86 because of the new System Icons and the common programs between the two different Distros.

I consider AROS 68k still immature for distribution, at least as far as compatibility with the old OS3 software is concerned.

Unlike other AROS 68k Distros, AROS One tries to keep as much as possible the native AROS 68k structure integrating in the system only the indispensable like Libraries or OS3 Devices in order to make compatible some important native OS3 programs.
