Probably the cause for strange freezes in Icaros is more than 4 GB of RAM!

I removed 4 GB from my ACER PC and Icaros Desktop (running native) seems to run much more stable than before, now that I have only 4 GB of RAM.. Icaros Desktop doesn't freeze anymore.. and a Filesystem Error that appeared before.. "AROS tried to access Block outside it's Partition" dissapeared and Icaros Desktop boots without Errors! I am talking of ABI V0!

It would be fine if sombody else could test that.. and probably the Bug could be fixed.. so that AROS doesn't freeze anymore if more than 4 GB are installed in the Computer!

You probably need to ask deadwood as he declared himself responsible for abi v0 maintenance.

If you are running ABIv0 it's only 32bit not 64bit. Icaros Desktop Native I'm running on an Intel Atom mini PC in a Morex Mini-Itx case. It has 4GB of memory installed and it works just fine. I wouldn't install more than 4GB because it's only 32bit.

But maybe there are people who want to try out Icaros Desktop on more modern machines with more than 4 GB of RAM.. I have Icaros Desktop installed on a HP Z420 with 16 GB of RAM .. it runs just fine except of the freezes! So it would be fine if that could be fixed on AROS ABI V0 because then there would be a showstopper less on beefy Hardware for Icaros Desktop!

Have you tried Icaros Desktop 64bit which is ABIv1? It can handle more than 4GB because of addressing.

AVIv0 is designed for 32bit. It can't use more than 4GB of memory. I'm not sure of the exact limit. For a PC the address limit is about 3.25GB, I believe.
