Is there a way in Icaros Hosted on Windows to save the settings for view mode and icon locations? Snapshot doesn't save icon settings. It works fine in Icaros Native though.

When I have to open Icaros several times a day for testing it becomes tedious to constantly reset "View-Icon-Show All" for every window!

It should work the same on hosted as on native, not sure why it doesn't. AFAIK.

BTW HandleInfo aims at using the Shell to write some settings in icons. Though it was written before Wanderer implemented many of those features and I must confess I don't remember testing HandleInfo much when Wanderer got those improvements years later.

Are you sure you have correct write access to the AROS files? From inside AROS, please try opening a shell and type in:

sys:
protect RWED ADD ALL

wait for a couple of minutes and retry saving settings. If this isn't enough, act from the Windows side and add write access recursively to subdirectories and files. If this isn't yet enough, well, I raise my hands to the sky since there's nothing more I can do: please remember that Windows hosted Icaros is just... well... a miracle if it runs at all. :-|

I think I figured it out. Snapshot does work for the icons and window locations for items within the Icaros Desktop such as System: and MyWorkspace and others.

But I'm using an SD Card with all my test files. Snapshot doesn't work for removable media. That makes sense now. But why does Snapshot not work with Ram Disk: when I restart Icaros though?

sys:Protect RWED ADD ALL
object not found

mouse and window placements erratic, keymap set to uk crash.

If you mean the icon for Ram Disk: then you need to forward the settings towards ENVARC:SYS/def_RAM.info which is copied towards Ram Disk: upon startup.
