SD card?

 I tried using some of my SD cards but none get recognized. Am I supposed to mount them or something?

I use SD cards with Icaros Desktop. I use Fat32 filesystem. I believe I had to make a mount file SD0 for it to be recognized.

I think mine are  FAT32 too. Is it "mount SD0:" or something similar?

i use on adapter usb and works fine, is for compact flash, sd, microsd, horewer yes must be formatted on fat32

I have a USB Card Reader just like that. I use SD cards for programming for Icaros Desktop.

Here are the settings for an SD Card mount file. I've also included the Mount file itself & icon.
As salvatore mentioned, copy them to "System:Devs/DOSDrivers". Make sure the SD cards
are formatted as Fat32.

Salvatore: thank you for the photo but I don't want to use an adapter, it just adds clutter and besides my computer already supports SD cards (or at least it should).

Anyway… So I put the files on a USB drive, copied them to to the appropriate folder, and …

Restart 1: …restarted the computer. The only difference I noticed is a blank icon on my workbench named SD0: that looked like a solid color grey rectangle. After that, I inserted my SD card but nothing happened. Clicking on the SD0: icon opened an empty window. I tried to access the SD0: through DOpus too but same thing.

Restart 2: So another restart, this time with the card in the slot from the beginning. I tried to format the grey icon using the AROS/AspireOS Format Disk tool, but it just threw a "Operation not implemented" or some such message. The Format Disk tool claimed the capacity of the SD0: is 0 kb or something weird. I tried taking the SD card in/out to see whether it'll trigger any prompts but no.

Restart 2: Then I restarted again. Same results (can't open, can't format). In the CLI I tried to "mount sd0:" but got the message the device already exists. then I typed "sd0:" but got the message the device is not mounted. Makes no sense to me… I unplugged the USB drive just to see whether that'll have any effect but no (except the standard Poseidon window popping up). Unplugging the USB drive made the SD0: icon disappear too!

Alright, I decided to delete those two files to get rid of the grey icon and retry this whole thing from the beginning when I have more free time. I'm sure the cards are Fat32 but will confirm that too before attempting this again.

So that's where I am right now, I'll try to poke it a bit more during the weekend and report back.

excuse me is poseidon that manages these peripherals, so you need a cardreader reader I have an adapter like the one shown in my photo, but where do you insert the sd? on the acer aspire one is not implemented the support of his reader

I assume that Poseidon is dealing with this, but no idea really.

I understand you have an adapter, yes I did see the photo but I want to use the slots that are already avaliable and not add additional hardware dangling on my desk.

As for where do I insert the cards: the computer has two slots. Here is a photo of one of them, you can read more about it here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acer_Aspire_One#Expansion_slot

Anyway I tried everything I can think of, no luck. Checked it's FAT32. Tried different cards. Tried booting with the card already in. Tried various "mount" this and that. It just isn't working. I believe the hardware is functioning properly because it worked while I had Linux installed on the same computer a few months ago. Oh well. Too bad!

I use a few different card readers. The internal card readers for desktop computers usually fit in the slot where a floppy drive would normally go. These card readers are usually very compatible with AROS.

I also use a USB card reader that is mostly compatible with AROS but it has issues sometimes. Sometimes it isn't recognized so while it's inserted I restart Icaros Desktop then it works. It also isn't very stable, but it works.

The third type of sd card reader is the built-in card reader on my laptop and my hp all-in-one. I haven't succeeded in getting either of those to work nicely with AROS. Try an external USB sd reader.

There are also different types of SD cards. I use Transcend, SanDisk or PNY sd cards, but none of them are over 16GB capacity because these use older sd card formats that are more compatible.

actually i use 4 gb sd card with usb adapter, i think who there is not a problem for reader more capacity
