Hey, nice work on this distro. I'm trying to install 2.6 on an older Dell 7010 but having issues with the DVD installer failing when copying the file C/Playnosound.

I've tried twice to download and burn the DVD with two different PCs. K3B on Debian hit an error during the burn. Both copies of the DVD fail at the same point. I wonder if there's a fault with the download and I'm the only person left still using DVDs (I saved a bunch just for AROS installers)..

I haven't tried USB boot yet as it used to be problematic when I last tried AROS, I may give it a go with  *nix dd.

Playnosound exists on the DVD, it's probably a DVD burning error or a physical problem with the DVD player!

Try extracting the ISO with WinRAR or other software, and check if Playnosound can be copied somewhere, if the DVD burner or DVD drive error exists, it will not allow you to copy it

You can do the verification on a Virtual Machine by installing AROS One 2.6 with the ISO!

Thanks for the reply!

ISO on VirtualBox = Works great!
Install from USB (burnt with dd) = Also fails on disk write.

Looks like a problem with AHCI. Unfortunately the OS fails to boot with SATA in ATA mode.. so maybe need to try another PC..

For the USB image try using the Rufus software, if you use the recent version 4.5 you have to rename the extension of the image file from .VHD to .IMG, if you use the old version of Rufus 3.20p you do not need to rename.

https://rufus.ie

If that doesn't work either, try adding the parameter 'noacpi' or 'noioapic' to the grub.cfg

Example:

Multiboot /Arch/pc/bootstrap.gz ATA=32bit noacpi

Multiboot /Arch/pc/bootstrap.gz ATA=32bit noioapic

For more info please report your problem in the attached link, maybe you can get some more technical information:
