Title: What Portable Software Is AROS Missing And/Or Has Broken With Current AROS ?
Post by: korban on December 04, 2021, 02:26:27 AM
Finally have some free time to delve back into porting software to AROS.
Just wondering what open source, portable software is lacking from AROS' library?
Unless Im mistaken, and much to my surprise it appears we're lacking ports of Hexen and Heretic. Can anyone tell me if this is correct please?
Additionally is there any software we used to have that no longer works?

Im a little rusty, so Im looking for anything "useful" that wont require a from scratch port. Not to say it needs to be simple, but rather something were dependencies are already met, or close to.

Unless they exist I'm going to start with an Heretic and Hexen port. BOCHs is another.
Other than those few though is there any obvious omissions?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for coming back to create something for AROS, I know that only hexen2 exists.
In my opinion now on AROS it would be more necessary to develop software for operating system, for example it lacks any tool to replace an icon, or to change the type of icon (Disk, Drawer, Project. etc), it would also need a Midi Player, an update Dopus4, or update OWB, Fonts viewer, Prefs Fonts (Color) and many other things that you find reported here on the forum.

How about a newer version of GCC and SDL 2.0? I think it will open the doors for so much more in terms of applications that can be ported thereafter.
