In this Thread will be added all the new features of AROS One 68x, at the moment not distributed because I think that AROS 68k is not yet ready even if there are many improvements.

Successfully played WAV, AIFF and 8SVX music files with Multiview, the music can be saved with Save AS, the saved files are smaller in size and of the same format, or so it seems, only the AIFF files are saved corrupted.

In the test I used both the Multiview Standard AROS 68k and the new version of miker, I attach an exhaustive screenshot ;)

Thanks, for this Back theme I also created a second background, see screenshot.

Now the Themes are complete "24", I would like to remind that the Themes replace Wanderer Screen and Windows Backgrounds, Pointer, Zune Windows and Backgrounds, if you want you can also add a video resolution (screenmode) for those who use different solutions from the default AROS one.

This of course is also valid for AROS x86, where only the Pointer settings change, AROS 68k still uses the Pointer mode of Amiga OS3 and therefore does not handle Pointers in the image format.

I will send you a black background based on AROS Kitty.

Kitty has grown up!  ;)

A perfect compliment to your black theme.

The good walkero after a report of mine has fixed his "iGame 2" for AROS 68k.

On AEB I had reported to walkero a problem on the MUI menu "not supported by Zune" that did not allow iGame to search for games and create a Playlist.

Not being an AROS expert, I sent him a HardFile with AROS 68k preinstalled with the WinUAE configuration, and this evening came the nice surprise, I enclose link to the discussion made on EAB.

AROS One 68k can now play Midi music via both Hardware and Software.

To play MIDI files via Real or Emulated Hardware, you need to use Players like Multiview that take advantage of the Hardware, on AROS One 68k in order to play Midi I had to replace a system library and Datatypes with one taken from Aminet.

To play MIDI files via Software instead you need to use Players that need software tools like those provided by Timidity and GMPlay packages.

I enclose a video that shows first how Multiview plays a Midi File via Hardware (Emulated), the second Player instead DaPlayer plays the Midi File via Software (Timidity).

On AROS One 68k is now possible to play MP3 with Multiview, to do this I used and installed the requirements that is datatype and libs that I found on Aminet, at the moment these requirements are not available for AROS X86.

I attach a little video that shows Multiview playing an MP3, on AROS One 68k anyway there are other MP3 players coming from AMiGA OS3

Here I had to use anim.datatype from OS3.9, I hope an AROS version will be created ! AROS 68k does not have anim.datatypeyou could make a porting of the AROS x86 version

Do you have a download link for the latest AROS One 68k? The version I have is older and it isn't working for me in WinUAE.
Title: Re: AROS One 68k Work In Progress

The old AROS One 68k not works because you use the current ROMs, to boot that version of AROS One 68k with WinUAE you have to use the ROMs used at that time, you can find them on your AROS One 68k in the path SYS:Boot/Amiga/.

The release of the new version of AROS One 68k at the moment is not distributed, but I can send it to you tomorrow in private (Link in PM)

On AROS One 68k Dopu4 is enriched, now with one click you can create LHA, LZX, ZIP, RAR, 7Zip, TAR and GZ archives.

Not only that, always on Dopus4 the LHA, LZX, ZIP, RAR, 7Zip, TAR and GZ archives with one click will be automatically transformed in a folder with all the data already available for use, see exhaustive video :)

This new Dopus4 configuration will also be ported to AROS One x86.

I enclose demo video, You have to download the video, so it will be available in a few seconds:

I will find time to lengthen the GUI and make it look better with Arial 16 font. I planned to do that anyhow. You make me work!

It's all for a good group of people though. AROS users are great.

Updated AROS One 68k with the new Nightly Build 2021-12-17 released today on aros.sourceforge, I don't know what improvements have been made, but AROS One 68k seems to work better.

Nightly Build 2021-12-17:
https://aros.sourceforge.io/nightly1.php

As I reported on the Post "AROS 68k updates from ApollOS repository", now AROS One 68k has been installed on a HardFile initialized with the PFS3-Aio Filesystem.

Unfortunately as explained in that post the native AROS SFS Filesystem on AROS 68k has problems on Wanderer, see attached video, no problems also with FFS Filesystem and Directoryfilesystem.

With the Professiona File System (PFS-Aio) AROS One seems to be reborn, now is much smoother and faster, programs like AmigaAMP work better even with multiple runs, see screenshots.

The WinAMP skins have been customized by me in Amiga style (see buttons) and are part of a collection I created for AfA One.

PSF2/PFS3/PFS3-Aio support all Amiga OSs 1.x/2.x/3.x

AROS x86 Does not support PSF2/PFS3/PFS3-Aio

AROS 68k Supports/Use PSF2/PFS3/PFS3-Aio

AROS 68k can only install PSF2 (HDToolBox only shows PSF2)

Si, AROS x86 non puņ creare Partizioni PFS e non vede le partizioni PFS, puņ invece creare e gestire partizioni  FFS e SFS.

one idea from me... perhaps interesting for you too

for aros vision I always had the problem that people had to redownload every new version because there was no update mechanism included

That meant if someone installed and configured his hown installations in it he or she had to be careful not to forget something and loose it (that happened for me). So updating without affecting current installation was high on my wish list.

With the new aros vision it is possible. I have created a simple hollywood binary that downloads a certain archive from my webpage to ram: (one line of code). This archive is automatically unpacked with xad (in ram) and content copied to sys:

New software is included in a new directory and existing software updated.(=overwritten)

no complex install script needed

also I have added another special startup file to startup-sequence that is independent of user-startup. By that I no longer need to change startup-sequence or user-startup
Title: Re: AROS One 68k Work In Progress
Post by: AMIGASYSTEM on January 03, 2022, 06:04:34 AM
Good idea about the startup-sequence, with AfA One I used to create a standard installer that would install or overwrite all the files.
The problem is that when there are new settings or moving folders, I do it to have a logical order, in that case it's better to reinstall everything from scratch.

I wanted to create bootable DVD/USB like I did with AROS One x86, but on Real Amigas this thing is not easy to do, moreover installAROS seems to have problems, have you ever tried to install AROS with the new Nightly Builds on a blank HD either with WinUAE or with a Real Amiga ?

On Magellan I can do a lot of configuration. New software is added to menu (or indirect in filetypes). On Wanderer I am not sure if something like that is possible. You could f.e. add a directory added and only integrate there all additions. But if you want to change the structure and content of the existing directories it becomes complex to update. On Magellan in my distribution when I add something I can f.e. integrate it in the menu on top or integrate it in context menu of a file format.

Icon.Library: New version of the famous library even more optimized for Amiga and AROS 68k OS, less memory consumed in loading icons and much faster in displaying TrueColor, OS4, AROS, MOS and PNG icons.

In this version a bug has been fixed in the delayed decompression of the second image found in the program ProcessIcon, and in the AROS 68k version has been removed all the code related to WB 3.1.

For those who are interested in Italian language, I installed on AROS One 68k an old OS3 application called "Ital" that allows you to Translate from English to Italian, all documents in the file format Html, Guide and TXT , maintaining the original format.

The application works from Wanderer but also from Dopus4, with a single click the document will be translated and saved with .tra extension.

I enclose a small video that shows the operation of Ital on AROS One 68k

Here is how to see your Youtube videos with iBrowser and NetSurf on Amiga OS3, all this is possible thanks to the site "Genyt" that allows you to download and view in different modes the Video or only its Audio.

I attachan exhaustive video made today that shows how to use iBrowser to view youtube videos through Genyt, also on Netsurf the operation works but only on some older versions and with some problem because of the lack of the "serch" tab of Genyt.

Of course to do this you must have an expanded Amiga and the configuration of a player that supports the video formats available on "Genyt".

On AROS One 68k iBrowser doesn't work but NetSurf SDL works well even if as mentioned above the "search" tab on "Genyt" is not visible.

Found on Aminet a version of exe.datatype that works fine on AROS One 68k.

Now with Multiview it's possible to analyze all the "native OS3" executables and understand what they need to work, of course it won't work for "ELF" executables native to AROS, in this case you probably need an elf.datatype and a Multiview that supports it.

If you are using WinUAE you must also activate Midi Out/In.

I know NEXT was already included in my distribution and it works on AROS One 68k, it supports but cannot save Doc files, Docx files are a set of zipped files, just rename it .zipper and from AROS One 68k it turns into a folder with all the files with a single click from Dopus4.

Successfully tested the new version of AmiModRadio on all my OS3 systems, the developer yesterday afternoon HERE (http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=79117&page=31) on EAB had asked me for feedback before releasing this new version.

This release finally fixed a strange bug "MUI_Redraw" that affected both MUI4 and MUI5, but during my tests I found the problem still on AmikitX, I wanted to investigate by comparing it with all other systems on which the error did not occur.

With a bit of luck I have immediately caught the cause of the error on AmikitX reporting it to the developer, you can read the report in the link attached above.

Today "tygre" the developer, has released the new version that fixes this last bug.

With some small tweaks for Zune I've managed to make AmiModRadio work properly on AROS 68k (see screenshot), too bad that the developer is not an expert on AROS x86 otherwise he would have made an AROS version.

AmiModRadio allows you to choose and run modules from various Servers and includes many Skins created by me that are installed in the AmiModRadio package.

Peterk has created "2" new versions of Icon.library for AROS 68k, one of the two is "standard", the other named "HalfBrigh" allows to improve the quality on MorphOS and AROS native icons but also OS4 PNG single face icons.

I enclose a screenshot that shows the difference between the two icon.library, the standard one shows on the icon a standard OS 3.5/9 style Glow, not qualitative on RTG screens.

The other icon.library "HalfBrigh" instead on the same icon shows a dark glow !

I am for fun just doing my distribution based on Wanderer instead of Magellan

One thing I always liked about Magellan was defining filetypes. I can make a filetype like png with ending .png and define what happens by doubleclick and define context menues. I can not only start a program or cli command then but also use paramters. That was in fact my main work I invested in my distribution based on Magellan.

Can I do anything like that when using wanderer or just access multiview when having a file that can be shown by it?

Wanderer is similar to Workbench 3.1 and should be used in the same way, file types can also be recognized individually via Datatypes and def Icons as it happens on OS 3.9.

Wandere is simpler and more intuitive than Magellan, of course it still needs to improve and maybe be updated to Workbench 3.9/3.2.

If you've tried AROS One x86, AROS One 68k works the same way, it's basically set up the same way.

Also on AROS 68k I created two small scripts that allow you to recover "all" files deleted from the operating system by a simple click on the appropriate icon on any SFS or PFS formatted Hardisk.

The script as soon as executed will open Dopus4 with the path of the "deleted" files set, ready to facilitate copying the deleted files or to execute them.

All files that have been deleted several times will also be recovered, each of them having a different nomenclature.

The script settings recover files from the system partition, but with a small change volume name can be used for any other location, the script works on all AROS x86/68k, AMIGA OS3/OS4 and MOS Operating Systems that use these two Filesystems.

On AROS 68k I also installed the utility "UndElEtE" that works only for PFS that allows you to recover individual deleted files, see screenshot, there is also the source for a possible adaptation for the SFS Filesystem, or for an AROS x86 porting

Created a GUI with GUI4Cli to easily run the UHCTools scripts.

This was inspired by THIS (https://youtu.be/yrI88hKkb7M) video created by an EAB user that shows how to use the scripts contained in package UHCTools useful to download on the fly Programs, Games and Demos from various sites like Aminet, MOS-Storage, OS4Depot, WHDloadGames etc.

The scripts provided with HDTools allow you to search by file name, to view and download recent files on the fly, either in unpacked format or unpack everything on the fly on your HD or RAM in a very simple and fast way.

I enclose video created on OS 3.2.1 that shows the functions of my GUI created with GUI4CLI

https://youtu.be/2rimr4bNa1k

N.B. On AROS 68k the UHCTools scripts don't work because of the shell bug reported some time ago.

On AROS x86 I don't think GUI4Cli exists !

Installed or rather just set the package UHCTools (http://aminet.net/search?query=UHCTools) on AROS One 68k also through a bank on Dopus4, I said set because at the moment the scripts of "UHC-Tool" cannot work on AROS 68k, but also on AROS x86 for the reason reported HERE (https://github.com/deadw00d/AROS/issues/64)

Released these days the new version of AmiTube 1.1 Multiplatform which adds the "Fancy List" in the search list, basically you can see all the thumbnails and all the info about the searched videos.

I didn't post the news earlier because AmiTube on AROS x86, but also on AROS 68k has problems on some searches, for example if you try to search with the word "aros", the search stops and AmiTube crashes.

I have reported the problem to "ALB42" and we are discussing it HERE (http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?p=1550042#post1550042)

Finalized BoingIconBar on AROS One 68k, added new icons to differentiate the type of Skins.

Now on AROS One x86 in addition to WBDock, you can also choose to use BoingIconBar for the change you will be prompted to reboot the system.

Created a small video showing how to use the menu of BoingIconBar, this you can also do by simply turning the Mouse wheel.

Once the developer Patrik fixed the scripts, once I did a manual installation I was able to get "UHCTools" working on AROS 68k.

Yes AROS One 68k includes GCC 6.5.0, I have never tested, I don't know how well it works.

At the moment AROS One 68k is not distributed, if you need I can prepare you a "standard" version without software OS3 additional with the working GCC.

Is there a link to a practical guide to install gcc in the shell so I can add it to my current version of AROS 68h ?

On AROS 68k there is some confusion !

- The "Development" folder in the ISO Contrib includes software not supported by Aros 68k, it appears to be x86 native

- Another discrepancy is that AROS 68k does not have the Directory "Develoment" but instead there is "Developer", this results in some errors on some Assigns

Once the Assigns are correct the GCC runs smoothly from a Shell, although when you close the Shell a strange Guru comes up

I have updated this version of AROS One 68k with the latest Build. i have also associated the files with extension, c, c++, h, o and txt to the System Editor, this way it will be more convenient to examine these kind of files.

I tried to test the most recent version of "amiga-m68k-contrib", but as happened with the other versions, "amiga-m68k-contrib" in the "Development" folder the GCC and other Binary files, result "Not Executable".

I reported this problem, but it was never corrected.

I hope GCC will also work with more complex sources !

pixie the Move  "only" in the WBstartup folder does not work whit "Wanderer" AROS x86/68k (But you can do it with Dopus4), in the other folders you can move files or folders.

This unfortunately happens due to a quirk in the "SFS formatted" Hardfile, in practice the WBstartup folder remains in use by system, there are however two solutions to enable copying in the WBstartup

- Copy In the WBstartup from Dopus4 "BoingIconBar" or "WBDock" (restarts the system)

second solution:

- transfer AROS One 68k from Hardfile to a Windows Directory (Directory Filesystem).

I should add that there is a third solution, and that is to set on Wanderer Prefs "Copy instead of Move"

Type in make

You can compile many examples in that folder and you will get errors..

I tested the source "01_window", if I use "make" I get a guru !

If I compile with "gcc -o test project.c", it works fine and I can compile the Binary file, when I exit the Shell the Guru appears.

I will try to compile 09_Image later.

I tried to compile "ZuneARC", the binary seems to work fine on AROS One 68k, some messages came out during compilation, but I don't know if they are errors, see screenshot.

I tried to compile with GCC OS3 a MUI example source on OS 3.9 BB4 "AfA One".

The compiled binary works well on OS 3.9 and also works well on AROS 68k

Created a Lite version of AROS One 68k with working GCC based on Night "20230213", this version includes only native AROS 68k software, no library or OS3 system files are included, Standard AROS One Icons and graphics.

Included in the Archive is a HardFile, WinUAE optimal configuration and two AROS ROMs found in Night "20230213"

Download AROS One 68k:

Do you have any distro with scalos installed?

If you are looking for the Builds for AROS 68k and AROS x86, you will find them in this duscussion, scan the pages and download the latest distributed build, these builds are to be integrated on AROS.

On the other hand, if you are looking for an AROS One + Scalos Distribution, I can see about creating it for you on the fly !

I saw that scalos has new builds for aros 68k but it doesn't have an installer, and I don't have much knowledge to install it myself, if such a build based on scalos was to be created it would be sweet! :)

I created a version of AROS One 68k Minimal with Scalos Installed, AROS One 68k will boot directly with Scalos.

Scalos has been configured with all available preferences, but do not change "Scalos Preferences" or other preferences because Scalos may crash (Scalos problem).

As mentioned elsewhere, Wanderer will somehow always be "behind Scalos."

Although it is no longer available for download, it is still being updated , sorry to all who requested it, but it cannot be distributed at this time.

AROS One 68k, unlike other AROS 68k distributions, includes the entirely native AROS 68k core, no Amiga library or system files are present.

In the future when it is available for download, users who like old Amiga applications will have to manually integrate libraries or other necessary Amiga software.

At the moment AROS One has had many updates, from the new Core to the many new Amiga applications supported by AROS 68k that have been distributed in recent years.

I attach small video showing how to configure and start AROS One 68k from WinUAE

If it has no Amiga libraries what is it stoping you from releasing it?

You're right, I'm just waiting for AROS to no longer need those libraries, at the moment without those libraries many OS3 applications can't work, if I release now some users would be disappointed with that.

Don't take me wrong, since your distro after all, but hasn't AROS X86 the same kind of problem as the 68k, or 68k version lacking even more?

AROS x86 does not support and does not need OS3 software, OS3 68k software on AROS x86 works only in emulation.

AROS x86 has many third-party software "native x86", and one storage where to look for them, see HERE (http://archives.aros-exec.org/)

For AROS 68k there there is no software native, and it needs lebraries and files from OS3 systems to make many OS3 software work

Is there that many closed sourced X86 AROS programs? I always thought AROS was API compatible, so it wouldn't be that hard to cross compile.

I can tell you that AROS x86 is full of software with source included, this is the reason I chose AROS, in the 90s between A4000/060 and the many Amigas I spent so much money, then I got tired because for each upgrade I had to spend money, then I had an old and inultile OS for production.

I discontinued my AfA One (https://ae.amigalife.org/index.php?topic=403.msg13769#msg13769) distribution for the same motiivi, because so many bars had been created, software I was using became commercial, and that forced me to remove them from the distribution.

With AROS x86 I have much more fun, no bars, and the ability to create something without anyone recriminating rights, Amiga disease that drove away all Amiga users.

Now of Amiga users there are only a few left who are nostalgic for games, 4-color icons and a black and white Workbench, these are the Amiga users of today.

Rebuilt a new version of AROS One 68k, the old version was no longer compatible with the new Aros68k ROMs.

This new version does not include any library or Amiga software, it will be the user who integrates the Amiga software into his private copy.

The user will be able to request the AROS One style icons for the Amiga software he will integrate in his AROS One, of course he will also be able to use the icons installed on the AROS One x86.

Since many people confuse AROS One x86 with AROS One 68k because of the same Themes and Icons, I decided to create new DualPNG Icons in Amiga GlowIcons sile, see screenshot !

You have to look in the binary icons window, not the ones in the Toolbar (Edited screenshot) !

Same are the images, but the shape is different, there is no more White square border and they have The Glow !

The AROS One x86 ones do not have the Glow and are square !

Also in 68k icons there is a lot of work and time to make them, it is not a simple renamed PNG !

I did this because on many sites they confuse AROS x86 with AROS One 68k.
