Hello
you can try if it works quake 2, I wouldn't want problems with the latest deadwood updates to me it doesn't work on tiny
-
Did a test on the fly and Quake 2 works fine with AROS One x86 updated with the deadwood core.
On VMWare it turns out to be very slow due to the lack of GL support, while on the small ACER Aspire One ZG5 and Dell Inspiron Mini 910 it worked fine with the most appropriate resolutions since the Video Card is supported, see screenshot.
I used:
- Quake2 Commercial Data
- YQuake2 Aros -> Quake2 Engine
* Quake 2 Shareware - > Crashes
-
ok thank you very much :)
-
You can also play in rendering software as well as OpenGL :)
-
No with VESA is not possible to play Quake 2 with YQuake2, the game is too slow :(
-
ok you enter on directory baseq2 and editing config file, change value "gl" on "soft", i have problem with my hardware because also with icaros desktop do not works
-
You don't need to edit the config file by hand, you can also change video mode from the Game menu.
If it doesn't work even with Icaros it may be that the game is corrupted or has missing files, check also the stack that must be the one set on the YQuake2 icon.

thank you

On Youtube an AROS user "James Mattson", created a 37 Minutes video on AROS One v1.9, explaining all the features, and complimenting the excellent work of the AROS Team !

Strangely, Italian sites ignore these videos, despite the fact that I am Italian and despite the fact that there are many Italian AROS users ;D
deadwood, I was reading on the Polish forum .ppa.pl, some problems with Polish fonts and catalogs Polish on AROS One, I saw that attached some Builds that fix these problems, you can you can you list the fixes that I need to apply on the next AROS One, thanks

Hey, nice work on this distro. I'm trying to install 2.6 on an older Dell 7010 but having issues with the DVD installer failing when copying the file C/Playnosound.
I've tried twice to download and burn the DVD with two different PCs. K3B on Debian hit an error during the burn. Both copies of the DVD fail at the same point. I wonder if there's a fault with the download and I'm the only person left still using DVDs (I saved a bunch just for AROS installers)..
I haven't tried USB boot yet as it used to be problematic when I last tried AROS, I may give it a go with *nix dd.
-
Playnosound exists on the DVD, it's probably a DVD burning error or a physical problem with the DVD player!
Try extracting the ISO with WinRAR or other software, and check if Playnosound can be copied somewhere, if the DVD burner or DVD drive error exists, it will not allow you to copy it
You can do the verification on a Virtual Machine by installing AROS One 2.6 with the ISO!
-
Thanks for the reply!
ISO on VirtualBox = Works great!
Install from USB (burnt with dd) = Also fails on disk write.
Looks like a problem with AHCI. Unfortunately the OS fails to boot with SATA in ATA mode.. so maybe need to try another PC..

For the USB image try using the Rufus software, if you use the recent version 4.5 you have to rename the extension of the image file from .VHD to .IMG, if you use the old version of Rufus 3.20p you do not need to rename.
https://rufus.ie
If that doesn't work either, try adding the parameter 'noacpi' or 'noioapic' to the grub.cfg
Example:
Multiboot /Arch/pc/bootstrap.gz ATA=32bit noacpi
Multiboot /Arch/pc/bootstrap.gz ATA=32bit noioapic
For more info please report your problem in the attached link, maybe you can get some more technical information:
