AROS One 68k v1.3 Preview

Also AROS One 68k as v1.4 of AROS x86 has the same graphic look, new icons for Drawers and Applications created by me. At the moment the release is not foreseen because AROS 68k for me is not yet mature to be distributed.

AROS One 68k is a Distribution based on the native AROS 68k Nightly Build (https://aros.sourceforge.io/nightly1.php), it can run on both Emulated and Real Amigas, for the latter you need a very powerful expansion, and a particular startup-sequence.

Successfully installed the porting of the game Shadow Warrior by BSzili, the game based on the engine of Duke Nukem 3D could not be run on a standard AROS 68k because the "Return" button is not supported.

On AROS One 68k I found the solution by replacing a library, i attach video test of Shadow Warrior + Audio Tracks video resolution 1024x768.

Find HERE (http://eab.abime.net/showpost.php?p=1477514&postcount=40), information and downloads needed to run Shadow Warrior on OS3 and AROS 68k

Released the new version of the Dock Bar MultiSkin WBDock 2 for OS3 and AROS 68k, available for download also a version of WBDock dedicated to the old OS1.3.

In this new version the static ChipRAM allocation has been removed, in the previous version of a few months ago syaya added the option to remove the frame around the brush of the Dock style "MagicWB" and added the ToolType SMARTREFRESH

AROS One 68k has been updated with the latest software releases including the new WBDock 2 v2.327

I like the simplicity and versatility of WBDock. I wonder if the author would consider an AROS x86_64 version as well ?

I really like the colorful background image too!  :)

On AROS x86 I prefer AmiStart, in addition to the management of the whole system its toolbar automatically inherits the colors of the background  ;D

I'm curious. Does GoADF work with your AROS One 68k ?

I don't use GoADF but it seems to work fine even if on a separate screen.

Where would you like to use AROS 68k? On expanded Amiga or emulator?

I use it with WinUAE. Same as with other flavors of AROS 68k.

I'm writing a small utility called MakeADF that creates blank ADF Images. So I need a quick way to test them to make sure I get the internal structures and the initial OFS/FFS format correct.

Using AROS One 68k would be easy to test with. I simply drop the new ADF in a folder then start WinUAE and then use GoADF.
Having a CLI utility to make blank ADF Images may be useful.

WinUAE can create blank ADF images of any size and format "with a click", and to see the contents of ADFs, just drag and drop them onto the Workbench.

When the work is appreciated you have more energy to create something, I am not a developer but in my small way I want to give my contribution.

The video of the Themes had a good success on Youtube, about a hundred views in a few days, now I created one on WBDock2 to show its functionality on AROS 68k

This is the best mindset! Everyones contributions counts, be it development, translating, documentation, distribution building or even advertizing. Keep up your work :)

Update to icon.library 46.4.548, 47.-1.548, 51.4.548 (experimental)

Officially released the experimental version of the Icon.library by PeterK that includes also the new icon.library for AROS 68k, as I requested now the new Icon.library on all supported Amiga OS and AROS 68k will be able to recognize 9 types of files through the Descriptors (Datatypes) or through DefIcons. The files will be recognized both if they have an extension or if they don't have an extension both from Deficons and from Descriptors (the ones to be modified), i enclose a quote from PeterK and a link to download the Iconlib package:

Added the ability to identify files by the datatypes system as a 2. chance to determine the names of default icons in case that DefIcons or Eastern didn't do that or supplied only a standard Project icon. The datatypes will try to load an icon corresponding to the (internal) datatype name, for example something like ENV:Sys/def_JFIF.info (use SnoopDos), or in case that this icon doesn't exist, they also try to it with the GroupID name again. There are 9 groups: System, Animation, Document, Instrument, Movie, Music, Picture, Sound and Text. So, in my example, the jfif.datatype would also try to load ENV:Sys/def_picture.info. On WB 3.0/3.1 this new feature won't work for the Workbench task, because that never calls GetIconTagList() with a file name. But a few other tools like SwazInfo may benefit.

There are 2 script based IconMixers included (using ProcessIcon) which can combine (True)ColorIcons with the planar images of MWB or old icons. The mixed icons will contain both image sets. One script keeps the MWBIcon settings, the other one retains the GlowIcon tooltypes.

Great movement for this new library, the v548 has been removed because it included a wrong argument, problem that I had reported to Peterk that at first I had noticed only me, yesterday evening the confirmation of Peter that has identified and fixed the Bug with the release of a new version for AROS 68k v.549 that I'm experimenting and it seems to go very well, also Peter is experimenting an AROS 68k version of Eastern.

Update to icon.library 46.4.549, 47.-1.549, 51.4.549 (bugfix for 548 and small improvement, delete 548!)

One script keeps the MWBIcon settings, the other one retains the GlowIcon tooltypes. My option "Reduce8PlanesTo3" might be useful for getting correct looking MWB images and without wasting space. PNG icon have to be converted with "ConvertPNGtoOS4" before adding planar images to them. Disable the options "DropPlanarImages" or "DropPlanar" in tools like RAWBInfo or CopyIcon. The mixed icons get damaged by AfA_OS, don't use these scripts there.

"Eastern" Also works fine on AROS 68k but currently only with 256 Color images, see screenshot

Updated AROS One 68k to the latest Nightly Build, also updated the supported "free" OS3 software park.
The stability and speed of AROS One 68k is greatly improved but it's not yet ready for distribution, I'd like to remove all OS3 software and use only native AROS One 68k software, at the moment not yet available.

As for AROS x86 installed also on AROS 68k my little Application "Shutdown" created in Arexx to be executed through a proper icon or from WBDock, see screenshot,  the little Arexx Script through request allows to close the Workbench.

New version of the famous System Monitor for Amiga supported also by AROS 68k

On Aminet is available also the source of the new SnoopDos v3.10, maybe someone could create a native AROS 68k/x86 version.

https://aminet.net/search?query=SnoopDos

EDIT:

Today SnoopDos has been updated to version 3.11. The version distributed yesterday v3.10 has been corrected because it prevented execution from Workbench

Installed on AROS One 68k a new Application named "AmiGemini" "Protocol Browser" software, a kind of lightweight hypertext browser to provide a simple hypertext format that simplifies linking between files. The application is suitable for those who oppose the pervasive tracking of users on the web, those who are tired of annoying pop-ups, auto-starting videos and other annoying things encountered on the web, convenient even for those who have a slow network.

I would like to report a problem found on AROS 68k, in practice on many porting of 3D games the AROS keyboard is not compatible with the game, in many cases you can not use the arrow keys to navigate through the menus, in others the fire key remains fixed and can not be disabled.

In many cases this is solved by replacing the "lowlevel.library" with that of Amigaga OS3,Last test done on with the new porting of "BSzili". Blood (http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=108291)

Hi pixie, unfortunately you are not the only one who asked for AROS One 68k, I got hundreds of requests on the phone because they couldn't download it, I also had a tough argument with some users who wanted my Diistribution at all costs, as happened here too:

https://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=98062&page=8

As I have said several times to distribute AROs 68k, my Distribution must "work alone" without the support of OS3 libraries or Devices, this is for two reasons, first because OS3 libraries and devices are still copyrighted, second because I like that AROS 68k should not be a clone of OS3, but an independent system.

I assume that you used the x86 but on 68k. x86 is self contained. Then I remember that you talked about Picasso 96 inclusion, but afaik aros 68k already has a graphic system
