-- Important --
I add an important note about the Live USB, as mentioned to burn the Pendrive Image of AROS One x86 you need a Pendrive of 4GB not smaller even if a little, but I strongly recommend to use a larger PenDrive so that you can have a partition exchange without the need to use a Virtual Machine.
Procedure:
Burn the Pendrive image with "Rufus" on a Pendrive larger than 4GB, finished burning you will find a Pendrive divided into two partitions, AROS One on the first partition and a second partition "not used".
At this point start a program that manages the partition and format this second partition "residual" in FAT32, after this the partition will be visible both from Windows and AROS available to share data between the two OS.
In the next version will be included a Pendrive Image with the partition in FAT32 :)
I attach screenshot where the Wanderer and HDToolBox show the two partitions of the pendrive !
-
For the moment to download my Distro you need to log in with a Google account this is due to the fact that many are downloading it by exceeding the threshold of downloads available on Google Drive, those who do not have a Google account (rare because almost all of us have it on our cell phones) must wait 24 hours.
-
Another interesting operation carried out on my Aspire 5920, after creating the DualBoot (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1TaRVsm2B8KmRfb8J13_PJKX4Pz-9HV7C/view) between AROS and Win10, i created a third Partition in FAT32, now the two Operating Systems have this Partition shared (see the two screenshots) and then you can exchange data.
I specify that AROS can also see the NTFS partition of Win10 but to do this I must enable "ntfs-handler" by default disabled on AROS because at the moment it is read-only.
-
Emulating with Qemu MorphOS I noticed that the AROS One DVD was not well managed by MOS, this was due to the lack of the Rock Ridge extension on the DVD that expands the ISO 9660 support for some file formats, extensions and long filenames.
Fixed the problem by recreating the AROS One ISO with the Rock Ridge extension added as originally for the Nightly Builds, now the AROS One DVD respects the standard ISO 9660/Rock Ridge format and is compatible with all O3, OS4, MOS and AROS.
-
As reported by users in addition to Rufus (https://rufus.ie/it/), To "Burn" the AROS One USB image to any USB device you can also use the software Etcher (https://www.balena.io/etcher/).
As already mentioned use Pendrive or HD larger than 4GB, doing this with the residual you can create a partition in FAT32 that can be used normally on Windows (the AROS partition will not be shown) but also as an exchange volume on AROS One that instead sees and manages both partitions.
-
really excellent distribution AMIGASYSTEM very polished, congratulations
-
Thanks for trying it out !
-
Completed 2 new skins for AROS x86 but are also compatible with AROD One 68k.
The 2 skins have the same style one recalls the style of the transparent bar of Amistart
-
Also brought to AROS One x86 Background and windows Skin Red Purple.
In work in progress Dackground and Skin Green :o
-
Finished another Theme/Skin with Green coloring, the screenshot does not show the right quality ;)
-
On my report ALB42 has fixed the application AYA (AskYourAmiga) for AROS x86, and is already available the new fixed version for AROS X86.
AYA on AROS x86 did not show the graphics in the program window, now with v06 everything works regularly, see screenshot
https://blog.alb42.de/
-
Still some update and improvement of my distro, almost ready the new version of AROS One x86 v1.6 ABIv0
-
Doing some testing on AROS One x86 I found that if you set spoffing to " Firefox 3.x" the videos are faster.
Spoffing with iPads and iPhones is also faster.
Too bad the internal video player of OWB can't save videos like OWB MOS version (tested in emulation).
I attach video test, consider that in the test I use an old VMware on an obsolete DualCore

-
In preparation a new novelty for my AROS One, it is a series of scripts that allow you to change a complete AROS Theme, aka replacement of the Background (Wanderer), GUI (Zune), GUI Windows (Appearance), Pointer and Amstart Transparency Tint (x86 only), but you could also add Fonts Windows and Icons and System all with a simple click followed by a system restart.
Of course the news concerns both AROS One both the x86 and 68k version.
I enclose a small video (now works) that shows the procedure of changing the theme ArosOne-Grey => AroOneXP
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oPs4NHYDS7Y
-
Small improvement on Wanderer for detail viewing, also here created and adapted small DualPNG icons, strangely the font color is Black :o
-
Among the 12 AROS Themes created by me, fixed an old WinXP Theme, now more refined and without imperfections with the addition of some Amiga Gadgets :D
-
Wow! I like it.
Nostalgic. Reminds me of my XP Days! :)
-
To prepare a Theme inspired to the MAC, if someone interests a particular Skin I could have fun to create it

I really like this one: http://www.amiga-look.org/artwork/retrofunk-aros-theme (http://www.amiga-look.org/artwork/retrofunk-aros-theme)
If you don't have it already, could you include it in your distribution?
-
Ok, Retrofunk was already part of AROS One, but from the next version I decided to leave only the themes complete with background that I created.
Seeing your request I'm adding again the Retrofunk Theme complete with Background, Pointer and other small improvements in AROS One style, thanks for asking me.
-
@amigamia
In addition to Retrofunk on AROS One 68k/x86 there is also themes "retro" by name OS8, even here I added a wallpaper and fixed the iconify tab
-
Created Video tutorial showing all the Set Pointer that you will find in the next release of AROS One x86

Very nice! Thank you!
How do I apply the Retrofunk icons pack?
-
Unfortunately on AROS x86 there are no icon managers, to replace "copy" the icons you can use Dopus4
Or you can replace them easily from OS3 or AROS 68k with a tool that manages icons like the one shown in the screenshot
-
@amigamia
If it wouldn't take so much time I could convert my icons with a Retrofunk color, but this would take a lot of time, I did a little test and I must say that they are not bad (see screenshot), even if the colors have better visibility :)
-
Created "Black" theme for OWB, probably will not be the only one
-
Said and done, created 2 more themes, one in Red and one in Chrome style, as per screenshot
-
You seem to like blue.
How about blue OWB icons to complement the black ones.
-
Blue is my favorite color, besides it's restful for my old eyes, then it reminds me of the Sea and the Blue Sky of my Region in the South of Italy.
Here is also created the Blue Theme that will be the default one set on my AROS One x86
-
I like the blue theme. I must be old also! :)
-
I think mine are older, two months ago I had cataract surgery ! when I was young I had perfect eyesight
OWB Themes also work well on MOS (MOS emulation test)
-
Tested AROS One x86 + Games WHDLoad with WHD_MENU :)

-
Started AfA One with Janus-UAE on AROS One x86, next test AfA One 68k started by Janus-UAE :)
-
New Look graphic keys also for AROS-PDF ;)
-
Finished the Audio descriptors, now all the Audio formats have their own icon and all associated to MPLayer
-
Finished the Audio descriptors, now all the Audio formats have their own icon and all associated to MPLayer
AMIGASYSTEM
Maybe we could do the same file association if you would explain your technique. :)
-
Nothing logical, I went by nose, I noticed that some Descriptors did not work, and taking as reference the working one or only changed the extensions of reference.
I had only problems with the AIFF Audio file that with the recognition via extension was mistaken for an IFF image, here I solved by taking the descriptor from AROS 68k where was set only the "Mask".
Preparo un video per mostrare i passi rapidi fatti con Dopus4:
-
Here is the Video:
https://youtu.be/CzLeuEwNlBw
-
Very nice.
How do we get that special button for Dopus4 ?
Of course we could use the shell commands as well.
Would you also need a def_icon for the file association ?
-
Yes, the Descriptor if it finds the Def Icon will associate the file according to the extension, in the absence of extension the file will be recognized if in the Descriptor is also included the Mask code.
Regarding Dopus4 I can attach my configuration so you can see the configuration of the two keys, which are simple even if I invented them. :D
-
AMIGASYSTEM
Yes please attach your Dopus4 config file. I'm curious.
-
As said nothing particular but it will save you time.
The buttons are one on top of the other (right mouse button to use the second one) to see the created descriptor give an enter to update the target window

Do you know the old Italian Card Game "Tressette" or "Tresette" translated in English "Three Sevens", there is a nice version entered on AROS One x86
The game allows you to choose the various decks of cards almost all Italian regions (see video)

Finished Describers also for Archives, also here all Archives have their own icon associated with ZuneARC.
ZuneARC now quickly unzips all common archives such as:
LHA, LZH, LZX, RAR, ZIP, TAR, GZ, TAR.GZ, TGZ, TAR.BZ2
https://youtu.be/EcOSIqCr5cU
-
Nice to see ZuneARC is still useful these days!
-
Thanks for creating it, ZuneARC is the fastest and most qualitative archiving program on AROS that allows you to customize everything.
ZuneARC also allows you to upgrade to new formats even by inexperienced users as you can see in my video, I hope they are to your liking, i'm preparing other stylized icons for AROS One
https://youtu.be/EcOSIqCr5cU
-
These are the new "tab" icons that i created for ZuneARC ;)
-
@Yannick
Is there any way to make ZuneARC recognize archives without extension?
Archives without extension are recognized by ZuneARC only if the name is equal to the extension!
-

Wasn't "recognizing" files the Amiga way a datatypes' duty?
-
----- English -----
Yes, To my knowledge on AROS x86 there is no Deficons and Deficons Prefs, only on AROS 68k if used that of OS3.
On AROS x86 the recognition with or without the extension is done through the "Datatypes" descriptor, and only for some formats and all are assigned the same icon. Then there are Applications like UnARC that can take advantage of the recognition, ZuneARC and RNOArchive instead if there is no extension or if the file does not have a name equal to the extension they do not recognize the archive, they will do it only if you manually add the extension.
If UnARC can do it, ZuneARC and RNOArchive can do it too.
UnARC has another common problem with RNOArchive, that is a problem with the XAD library, where BZ2 archives are not properly disappeared and RAR archives send both AROS and OS3 to GURU, only OS4 has the XAD library works well with all archives
MOS for example "without extensions" does not recognize TAR, GZ and BZ2 archives, AROS x86 now with my correction in the descriptor recognizes them, but as mentioned they only work with UnARC.
-
Some Programs, even in the Amiga world and AROS, only recognize files by file extension. They don't bother to check file signature. That's why when writing code we have to account for both situations, with or without file extension.
However, when saving files, using the file extension as an indicator to convert file types can be a useful feature. So dealing with file extensions can make things easier or more difficult.
-
Someone pointed out to me that the size 48 icons don't show the text clearly, I recreated new icons with larger text, I hope it reads better now, in time I'll redo for other formats as well.
-

Yes it is very important because if there is a wrong extension it is easy for the application to be led astray, but as said it can also hide something
-
These are the new "tab" icons that i created for ZuneARC ;)
I changed again, I gave more emphasis to the color of the icons, color is life !

The Game free The Widow Final Version by Juan Carlos Herran Martin was inserted on AROS One x86 games folder, The Widow has the classic puzzles point and click
Features from this Final Version:
1. Now the game start with your language if it is available or with default
language: English. The intro languages screen has been removed.
2. You can choose play in window or full screen, with the new option in the
game Settings.
-
Some users have told me that the close button windows on the "right" used on many OS and uncomfortable on AROS because they are used to have it on the "left".
I made the change and now all themes have the close button on the "left"; who is interested in restoring the button on the "right" can do it by making a small change to the script configuration Theme.

Also for the Def icons "images" I recreated the icons with larger texts so that even on the small icons you can read them well.
Click on the image to see the animation :)
-
As for the Graphics also the Def Icons dedicated to the Music files now have an Icon with bigger text, also here the shadow effect oer the second face of the icon.
Click on the image to see the animation :)
-
The new icons posted lately that I hope you like will be including in the next version of AROS One x86 ;)
-
I created a video that shows how all the graphic files "even without extension" are recognized by Datatypes and therefore also by Multiview, of course TIF doesn't work because I don't have the tif.datatypes :)
Test Video:

A few days ago, was released on Aminet "PerCIMan", a "cross-platform" program for managing contact and other information about people.
After testing "PerCIMan" I reported to its author "Ulrich Beckers" about a problem in the AROS version, basically the GUI cannot be resize
"Ulrich Beckers" is also the author of the Exutil Application already installed on AROS One X86/68k, also this Application suffers although in a minor form, the GUI can only be enlarged.
-
Among the software updates of the next version of AROS One there will also be MicroEMACS, created the DualPNG Icons style AROS One, click on the screenshot to see the animation of the icons.
-
Installed on AROS One x86 the new version 53.4 of "ntfs3g-handler" that now also supports writing, there would be a small problem that if you use a Pendrive in NTFS you must insert it after booting the system otherwise it slows down the system startup.
Also the new version 53.3 of "exfat-handler" has been released but at the moment the Pendrive with this Filesystem can't be used because the ExFAT is not supported by the massstorace.class, is there a way to do it?
I have not tried with Mountlist because AROS system does not use Mountlist !
-
Finished all the def_icons dedicated to music files, you will find these icons now with better text visibility in the next version of AROS One x86 and AROS One 68k
-
Someone did not like the Shadow effect and I have reintroduced the mirror effect that is much more beautiful, Click on the screenshot to see the animation
-
Also for the Def Icons Image I recreated the icons with mirror effect and larger text, now remain to recreate the Def Video (they are in progress), to see the animation click on the small screenshot.
-
Finished also the Def Icons dedicated to Video files, I hope not to have forgotten some format, also here you can see the animation of the icon clicking on the small screenshot :)

Nice to see ZuneARC is still useful these days!
Hi Yannick, I wanted to ask you if in the ZuneARC.cfg is possible to add an entry for the recognition of archive files "without extension", I tried with "Mask" or "Match" but they are not recognized by ZuneARC.
-
There is nothing like this implemented at the moment. It would require a new version. If I find some time I’ll look at it , it’s been a very long time since I started AROS for the last time. :-\
-
Thanks Yannick for creating the best Archives manager for AROS, it would be very nice a new version also for AROS 68k/ OS3
-
With the release of the new RapaGUI 2.0 some Applications developed with Hollywood based on the old version of RapaGUI may not work anymore or may work badly.
For this reason I've reported to Ulrich Beckers that his "Exutil" application doesn't work anymore while I've already reported some time ago the problems with the Manage contact "Perciman" applications (problem Resize GUI found only on AROS x86).
-
Finished also the descriptors for the "Video files", now all the most common video formats are recognized by Wanderer, unfortunately some formats require the presence of the extension, I have eliminated the recognition "without extension" because of some conflicts between the various formats with assignment of a def wrong icon, the GIFANIM are recognized perfectly but GifAnim.datatypes AROS shows only the first frame !
These are the Descriptors created and supported by MPLayer and Multiview

-
I would have finished but if someone is interested in other types of files being automatically recognized by Wanderer I could create Descriptors and Def Icons ... meanwhile the audio files recognized by Wanderer are 17 and all have been associated with the best Player
These are the Descriptors created and supported from Wanderer:
OGG
AIFF
WAV
WMA
MP3

OWB: Dowload and Play MP3 with MPlayer (script)
Today since OWB could not play an MP3 from the Amigaremix site I wanted to experiment with an external player, the only one that worked well in this circumstance was MPlayer, but I had problems with larger MP3s, MPlayer needs a high stack to play MP3 or some video formats.
On OWB if I'm not missing something it seems to not be able to give a stack to external tools, nor can it run tools with their icon and thus Tooltypes.
In the end I managed to give the stack to MPLayer creating a script and everything worked perfectly even running multiple MP3s, the MP3s played also remain available on files in RAM, see attached video

Updated the whole software park on AROS One x86, inserted also ArLan, Simple "self-made" Gopher client for AROS, created also the drawer and application icons in AROS One style :)
http://archives.aros-exec.org/?function=showfile&file=network/misc/arlan.lha
-
Successfully tested AROS AMP, the application lacks the features and settings of AmigaAMP but has no problems playing MP3s.
AROS AMP does not support AmigaAMP skins but something can be adapted.
AROS AMP has also been included in the upcoming release of AROS One.

New version of UnRAR 6.02 Multiplatform and Multilanguage for AROS x86 and AROS 68k.
This new version is based on UnRAR source code 6.0.7 and supports all RAR formats including version 5.
UnRAR 6.02 has been integrated into AROS One x86 and 68k, on AROS One x86 UnRAR is used by ZuneARC (see screenshot), successfully tested with multiple RAR versions without any problems.

I recommend this portal which also reviews AROS:

As we all know unlike PCs or other platforms the Amiga or AROS can be turned off quietly from the switch without worrying about causing damage, unless the system is not performing some write operation, in this case you risk a file corruption or an invalidation of the Hardisk or Floppy, which is rare if you use some Filesystems.
Well in this regard, given the request from a User AlexanderLUFC I have created a small App (script arexx) to turn off the system using the system command Shutdown, the icon can also be inserted in AmigaStart ready to use, see screenshot, of course in the case of AROS you must turn off the PC from the switch, unless there is a command on AROS that I do not know that allows you to turn off the PC, if someone is more informed or has any idea is welcome.

Here is the first of the new CoogleOS/Win11 inspired themes, naturally with AROS needs ;)
If someone would like a particular theme can ask and maybe attach a comprehensive image.

Although my old ACER ASpire 5920 goes to VESA it is possible to run multiple "PaperBoxes" at the same time.
AROS One is installed in DualBoot with Win10

On AROS x86 there are programs to Viewer Fonts, but none of them works as Workbench to associate Font file icons, does anyone know any application that can do this?
I add that Multiview can be associated but on AROS the "font.datatypes" doesn't seem to exist, the Descriptor instead exists !

Directory Dopus 5 , displays fonts..
BTW, I just installed your distro to my 2nd acer aspire one d150 and everything works well, keep up the great work.
Does gcc comes alone with 68k distro? So I can compile my x86 programs natively.
-
Yes but it's an internal command of Dopus5, of course it works only if the fonts files are arranged in "detail", if you set the icon view the font icons will not work anymore because the icons are associated to Multiview that will not find the font.datatype, I add that Dopus5 recognizes only the old native Amiga fonts.
Moreover my AROS One x86 and AROS One 68k use the Wanderer standard and Dopus5 is not installed.

Thanks for testing it, it's very nice to have an appreciation from an experienced user.
AROS One is improving day by day, many things have changed and improved, there are also many software updates, in a while I will have to distribute the new version.
Does gcc comes alone with 68k distro? So I can compile my x86 programs natively.
Excuse my ignorance in this field, what do you mean by and what should I integrate in AROS One x86?

Continuing to configure Dopus4 I associated the "source" files and the various startups to Jano Editor so that to edit them just double click.
I hope that Jano Editor is the right tool to edit the "source" files, otherwise suggest me the most suitable tool.
These are the extensions and files associated with Jano Editor, if I missed something please let me know.

In addition to the many software updates on the new version of AROS One, you will find other lesser known Aros x86 software such as ABKViewer for viewing native AMOS ABK files and KGBArchGUI for managing KGB archives!
All software have a drawer icon and application style AROS One !
If you wish to have other software on AROS One x86 please ask.

Hi,
Just wanted to say thank you for your distribution, having a usb option have been very useful, used dd from Linux to copy over
Installing from usb to sata ssd drive is so much faster and easier than dvd to hard drive ;D
Been playing around with a couple of Dell Wyse thin clients with your distro and enjoying it all so far
https://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Aros/Platforms/x86_Complete_System_HCL#Dell_2
There are shortcomings (no ati graphics 2d or 3d, usb3) but for old 10 year old hardware (atom and ion2 era equivalent) it has been interesting
Regards
Jeff

Thanks Jeff for testing AROS One in Image USB version with the software "dd" on Linux.
Waiting for the x86 version of DiskImageGUI to be fixed, i've created for DiskImageGUI some new images menu style AROS One, also created new Def Icon and "datatypes" descriptors for file ISO, IMG, DMS, Device, library, see screenshot.

Improved ZuneARC on AROS One x86, now undoubtedly the best choice to unpack archives for AROS x86.
I enclose a video where it is shown how ZuneARC unzips all common formats like:
LHA, LZH, LZX, ZIP, RAR, BZ2, 7z, GZ, TGZ, TAR, and TAR.GZ

Created a new Directory in Extras called "Developer" this is to insert some applications such as EdiSyn, Vim and Lua, if you want you can suggest other applications to be included in this folder.
All this because these Applications could be useful also for those who don't choose to install Development during the installation of AROS One.
About VIM, I have not updated this famous Editor because the new version 8.2.2993 released a few months ago crashes for AROS, so the version 8.2.25 remains installed and works perfectly.
I attach screenshot showing the location of the new folder Developer and VIM v8.2.25

Started testing AROS One v1.6, soon there will be the publication of my new release :)

Last effort, created some Images that tomorrow will become Icons folders for storing Mudimedial files of Graphics, Audio and Video, also these will be included in the upcoming AROS One v1.6 ;)
I'm undecided whether to use a single background color for the texts, and make them all on the style of the MED folder with a light blue color similar to the folder or Red like the MP3 one so that it breaks with the blue of the folder.
-
Decided to create new icons with a slight transparency equal for all folders, the decision resulted in the best visual quality of the text, will remain differentiated colors instead for the Icons of multimedia files.

Nice to see ZuneARC is still useful these days!
Hi Yannick, I wanted to ask you if in the ZuneARC.cfg is possible to add an entry for the recognition of archive files "without extension", I tried with "Mask" or "Match" but they are not recognized by ZuneARC.
Hi,
After such a long time I took 1/2h to add this function to ZuneARC.
New version is available from here : https://sourceforge.net/projects/zunetools/files/ZuneArc/ZuneARC_v1.6.zip/download
in config file you can use extensions (first 2 lines here) or patterns (last line) for an ArcType entry!
# these lines are here to assign file extensions or patterns to archivers
ArcType,lzx,LHA,
ArcType,lha,LHA,
ArcType,#????2D6C68??2D,LHA,
Patterns are starting with #
?? are ignored bytes
maximum 16 bytes from file start are parsed
/Yannick

It's good to see progress on AROS apps. :)

@Yannick
Thanks for this new version ;)

Nice to see an update Yannick!

Hello hello ^^
i'm so sorry, my new computer 56€ cost doesn''t fit with the necessary vidéo card and ethernet ones. So then i did a music linux computer with ^^
Please accept my apologies, i go virtualize it under virtual box :)
Regards.

ArcType,#????2D6C68??2D,LHA,
I don't know if I got it right, I tried to use your pattern for the other "no extension" formats and it didn't work, then by doing some testing I was able to find the right formula:
It works well with ZIP archives:
ArcType,#504B0304,ZIP,
It works well with RAR archives:
ArcType,#52617221,RAR,
Tomorrow I will try to configure other formats as well
Thanks Yannick you were great !
-
Question marks are to tell the parser to ignore the bytes, in fact the test is done nibble (4bits) per nibble, one question mark is to check one nibble.
For LHA format, the files are starting with for example:
31 67 2D 6C 68 35 2D => ASCII : lg-lh5-
I want to check only ??-lh?- the 5 can be several subformat from LHA therefore
?? ?? 2D 6C 68 ?? 2D => ASCII ??-lh?-
hope it is clearer.
-
Yes Yannick very clear, but for the other formats it didn't work for me, then using the method described above it worked for all tested archive formats, only for LZH archives I had to insert two "strings" because there are LZH with different signature.
I attach the configuration of all working formats:
ArcType,lzx,LZX,
ArcType,#4C5A5800,LZX,
ArcType,lha,LHA,
ArcType,#2D2B2D6C68352D,LHA,
ArcType,lzh,LZH,
ArcType,#217E2D6C68352D,LZH,
ArcType,#22662D6C68352D,LZH,
ArcType,zip,ZIP,
ArcType,#504B0304,ZIP,
ArcType,tgz,TGZ,
ArcType,#1F8B0800,TGZ,
ArcType,tar.gz,TGZ,
ArcType,#1F8B0800,GZ,
ArcType,tar.bz2,TBZ2,BZ2,
ArcType,#425A68,TAR,TBZ2,BZ2,
ArcType,tar,TAR,
ArcType,#646F736C73,TAR,
ArcType,rar,RAR,
ArcType,#52617221,RAR,
ArcType,7z,7ZIP,
ArcType,#377ABCAF,7ZIP,
ArcType,gz,GZ,
ArcType,#1F8B0800,GZ,

@Yannick
For LHA the best choice is your string because it detects all the LHA variants and also the LZH Archives, so I deleted from my config the strings concerning LZH !
ArcType,#????2D6C68??2D,LHA,
