Hi. I have downloaded from Aminet the latest alpha, and I must report something I totally overlooked in the past.
The Catalogs drawer included in the archive contains two sub-drawer called 'deutsch' and 'svenska', using a rather old naming scheme, while AROS' Locale/Catalogs drawer includes subdawers with english names. Could please the next alpha start adopting the same naming rules too?
Btw, I guess 'svenska' is 'swedish'. Am I right?
-
Yup, that’s the Swedish word for ‘swidish’

good! Thank you!!!

I'm the guilty one here :)
The InstallerLG installer uses the same naming as locale.library and the locale preferences. This is the value that is promoted to @language in the installer script. And this seems to be 1:1 with AmigaOS3 and MorphOS.
Is there any particular reason why the drawers in AROS have english names?

kalamatee told me once that this decision has been discussed in length before and it was apparently the only option keeping things working and consistent across decoding and filesystems. hope im not messing this up ..

Ah ok, makes sense.
I'll fix it until the next release.

You aren't. :-)
I had to purge several files from Icaros Desktop too, due to different way some characters were encoded on native, linux hosted, etc. For instance, the word 'Français' in AROS CD-ROM was eventually destroyed under Linux when copying the folder on my EXT3 partition. It didn't like that cedile at all.
