Povray 3.7 is multi-core aware.
Is Aros 64 SMP far along enough to handle this application?
What other Raytracers do you think would be a good candidate?
-
I was thinking later with fabio falcucci to do a gui for this program!
hi
-
That sounds like a good idea.
-
stay tuned
-
I was wondering if Povray 3.7 could be finally ported to Aros 64 SMP.
Any way it could be?
-
aros 64 was discussed, mazze also intervened saying that we need funds to carry on the development and also a lot of funds, at this point only time will tell us what they will be able to conclude on this, I think that only after a stable version we can talk about software porting :-\
-
AROS 64bit is stable. Much more stable than 32bit running Magellan.
-
I haven't been able to boot from the nightly yet it shows you developers have a fairly mature version :)
-
It seems @aGGreSSor is making progress in that area.
His works now using a virtual machine.
VMWare is better than VirtualBox it seems. Check your settings.
-
i am not using virtual machines only native, i have always been using aros natively
-
The issues will be sorted out in due time and some exciting new features will be added and maybe someday sound will work too for 64bit. PovRay and other apps will be updated by their authors to support running on 64bit.
People such as Kalamatee and Mazze and Deadwood are the true developers. They do the heavy lifting, handling the more technical aspects. I'm just a junior programmer who likes to experiment. I prefer working with Icons and Graphics Apps, sometimes Filesystems and Disk Imaging.
-
yes miker we are aware of the development by nick and mazze behind the system, and that deadwood are taking care of the backports
-
as for povray we have on abiv0 the penultimate version "3.6.1" which is very powerful at least for those familiar with this program
