You all may have heard and I will wait for it.
-
Out of interest, what news are you referring to? Is there a new AROS development that you're interested in?
-
Did Cloanto buy the Amiga trademarks and other assets?
-
Yes and No. C-A Acquistion, which is a company that belongs to Cloanto's CEO Michele Battilana, has bought all Amiga Inc's assets (trademarks, logos, intellectual properties, copyrights and, why not, original AmigaOS sources), becoming the new owner of all them. In my humble opinion, this move is mainly targeted to gain more power against Hyperion in their current litigation, rather than a necessary step to move the Amiga world forward.
I wound't expect an Amiga 6000 computer from Cloanto, to be clear. However, they may now directly develop an 'Amiga 1200 Mini' with Retrogames Ltd as they did for The C64 Mini.
Their eventual further, although unlikely possible involvment with AROS are up to them, if they decide to release the code under a compatible license.

I hope it would mean that they would work with A-eon and Hyperion.
Amiga OS4.X is not needed for making PPC motherboards and OS4.X could be developed without Amiga 68K, I believe.
I am not for sure about OS 3.1.4.

I'd like to get a new AmigaOS without new hardware which is fixed on the Intel Core i-Systems, so many PC's and laptops could be used, together with other operating systems. Features:
- Full emulation of 68000 and 68060
- Full emulation of Amiga custom chips
New AmigaOS software should use the 'bundle' method like in Mac OS X. These are simply folders with an extension, so iTunes. app is an application, Radeon6000controller.kext is a driver (KErnal eXTension) for the AMD Radeon 6000 series. The internal structure is always the same and is configurable by XML files. It also contains resources like graphics and so on localization.
