Title: General fund
Post by: terminills on January 31, 2019, 04:28:30 AM
I would like to propose a new general fund.

1)  the fund would be controlled by a nominated person.

2) a date should be set to vote on who controls it yearly.

3) the fund is to be used for only AROS projects.

4) controlling member is to create a list of minimum 2 projects to be voted on by community at least once a year.

5)  projects should not be overly complex.

Any suggestions?

Use crypto instead of fiat fund to avoid banking issues.  At worst, use USDC or TrueUSD or good old BTC/LTC/ETH or even go punk with XMR.

Drivers for network cards,
it is necessary for once any version of AROS is installed,
there are no problems and being able to be connected,
work on an OWB improvement so that you can watch videos on youtube,
we need a program like Camtasia,
to be able to edit videos, games, programs, audio editing, ect
programming: visual images like creating a controller,
so that people can be encouraged.

That is a bit to specific for a general fund.  The issue we had last time is it seemed almost impossible to use it as there were no specific guidelines.

has anything happened with this?

I would suggest just setting something up, be clear about who will manage and what you intend to spend the money on, (even if it is just stating "Aros development"), people will either donate or not

one, of the reasons I stopped donating to the last fund was it didnt seem to be getting spent

@Troopy

I get the whole they will donate or they won't.  However you literally made my point about the old fund.  Which is what I wanted to avoid doing again.  So if this seems agreeable maybe I will just go with this design.

I don't see the point to this as the old P2P general fund is still sitting there with $2.2k collecting dust.

The problem with the old general fund is because there was no defined terms you needed to ask every donor if it was okay to use for an individual project.

Start the new fund, open ended the owner will spend it on aros however he sees fit

Spend the old fund, if someone complains that you spent it on something they don't agree with give them their money back from the new fund

Current revision.

1)  the fund would be controlled by a nominated person.
2) March 1st Nominations for controlling member.
3) April 1st Community members vote on controlling member.
4) controlling member is to create a list of minimum 2 projects to be voted on by community at least once a year.  First vote by June 1st.
5) the fund is to be used for only AROS projects.

Removed: *projects should not be overly complex.

I would suggest the best solution would be to move the existing funds over to OpenCollective:

https://opencollective.com/

One of the main advantages is that all the accounts are handled in the open, so supporters can see where their donations are going.

Ultimately only AROS developers can decide on whether they want to embrace this new fund idea or not, it won't work without them. We'll need buy in from at least one AROS developer to coordinate the change.

I would lose
projects should not be overly complex

It doesn't gain anything, just creates a point that may be argued about (level of complexity)

np's

also iirc I was donating £5 a month to the old fund, by all means move it to the new fund or spend it as part of the old fund on anything aros/give it to any one of the developers

I am sorry that the AROS wallet isn’t ready yet but I originally started this to finance development:

www.teloscoin.org

We have gouvernance.rocks where anyone can start a project and get votes ... single votes are like donations..

I use aeros as binding to AROS .. at least as long the new wallet which will work also ok AROS is ready.

Before AROS developers aren't willing to create new drivers any donations are unneccessary.

@Rc_Tech

I am not sure why you think you are in the position to request something
