I tried to Install AROS One 2.0 on VMWare Player 17 from Scratch but I got no Sound. If you use a VMWare Image from Player 15 Sound runs on Player 17!
So if you want to create a VMWare Experience of AROS from Scratch you MUST start with VMWare Player 15 or take a VMWare Player 15 Image to stay safe!
Just wanted to mention that!
Maybe my Memory is wrong and you even have to use VMWare Player 14!

WTF?! did a clean install from Scratch with Widow$ 11 and VMWare Player 14 and got no Sound either!

Thank you aurabin for the tests, and for installing AROS One v2.0, hope you enjoyed it !
Unfortunately, I cannot install VMWare Player 17 at the moment, because it is not supported by my Win7 64Bit
-
Aurabin, on VMware what configuration did you choose !
In Guest Operating System, try to use "Other" version (se screensht), this choice is the best for AROS, where you can add all the peripherals "manually".

hm
On more recent VMWare Player Versions you cannot chose Soundblaster 16 as Soundcard anymore!
:-x
I will try this Version to install AROS from Scratch:
https://filehippo.de/download_vmware-workstation-player/12.5.7.20721.0/
-
With VMWare Player 17 you should try the basic configuration called "Other", as mentioned it is the best choice.
On WMware Choosing a pre configuration "Linux" or "Windows" can lead to lack of Audio or Network, personally observed !
-
Ok I can confirm that with VMWare Player 12 it is possible to install AROS from Scratch and HAVE Sound in the easiest way!
@ Amigasystem please try to create a brand new Virtual Machine with VMWare Player 17 and install AROS One 2.0 from Scratch to see.
It would be better if I was the Idiot and simply wrong *smile*
-
Currently I cannot install VMWare Player because it is not compatible with my Win7.
I was asking to try the "Other" mode for confirmation so that I can report it to AROS One users.
-
I tried the "Other" Mode and IMHO I can confirm that you NEED VMWare Player 12 to have Sound as a brand new User, And I think you then can copy the Setup into modern VMWare Player Versions!
-
Ok Thanks for testing, using a Version 12 Configuration on Version 17 is a good idea, I used this procedure also for earlier pversions, but they are not always compatible.
For example a configuration of VMWare Player 6, is not supported and does not work with VMWare Player 7 (the one currently using on my Win7 64 bit.).
VMWare Player 6 was the last one running on WinXP, VMWare Player 12 should be the last version supported by Win7
-
When VMWare 12 Setups don`t work anymore on the most recent Player Version it will be required for AROS Development to write a new Sound driver for VMWare Player to have AROS fully being supported by the most recent Player Version of the Future!
-
aurabin, I also noted that VMware Player. starting with version 14 cannot be installed on a PC with a pre-2011 CPU !
