This looks VERY interesting :)
https://blog.alb42.de/2023/02/12/browsing-the-web-amifox/
-
I've noticed it and yes that seems very interesting :)
It is an older idea though as many other retro platforms suffer the same faith when it comes to browsing the internet.
Hopefully it will live up to the expectations.

A great project :)
-
amifox it is only for classic amiga!

You will be able to use it on AROS 68k, actually not on AROS x86 it is not necessary, we have OWB which although it is not updated, at the moment it is the best Browser in the Amiga World
-
You can do many things with Odyssey even if it begins to be obsolete for some web pages
-
The more, the better. So why not? I would really like to have it on i386 too.
-
I don't know why he didn't make a version for aros as well he said to me: but you don't already have a browser, I replied that it is becoming obsolete
-
maybe someone else can ask :)
-
seems he has some problems to do that

Should I delete the current version from archives not to confuse people?
-
Odyssey works but for some well-known sites it is obsolete, I use it every day, it should be updated but we know that only Deadwood can do it and he is very busy and is doing a lot now, Amifox could be an alternative, maybe working on Amissl the good Albs could do the porting, thanks Deadwood and all the developers

I got a beta version of amifox from Marcus for aros 68k that works and scrolls down fast (whole page fetched at start)
so when there is interest I can publish it

Maybe you may have tried the 68k version for OS3 ? I read that ALB42 wrote "there is no special AROS 68k... because there is no special AROS 68k FreePascal compiler"
Anyway the OS3 version of Amifox is a very good software and works well on AROS 68k, but it is not a real Browser, for browsing and downloading better a real Browser like NetSurf SDL.
-
yes there is not a really browser but is i nice project again i can used aros 64 thanks at amifox :)
-
another version of AmiFox available
-
Significantly improved it now looks more like a browser, it is now smoother, now you can use the right mouse button to download, which can also be done through one click, also the search engine is now faster.

another version that fixes a zune related problem

AmiFox is currently no longer working, the developer of the service McDope reported. The public AmiFox backend got HACKED just now!
They didn't try to steal any data, which wouldn't work anyway. But they modified the server software. Right now this means you can only connect via the yet unpublished AtariFox application. I'm working hard to restore everything from backups right now and will keep you updated.

Although in some sites you can not access Odyssey works better certain Amifox is an alternative on 68k and ABIV11
-
in case it wasnt obv: the "announcment" was an april fools ofc, by the sviliper, now everything works normally :)
-
After the crash of the server used by AmiFox, last night the server started working again, and magically now on AROS x86, no Guru appears anymore after running Youtube searches and launching Youtube several times.
I add for all those who installed AROS One v2.0, that the "Zune" buttons created by me for AmiFox, by default are not active, but only available in the path "\Prefs\Presets\Zune", to activate them simply copy "AMIFOX.1.prefs" to Zune Prefs, for any help do it on the AROS One Thread.
